I have more or less been playing this same game.

My CSG clearly is compromised over what it sounded like new, so I have been on the hunt for something else.

I just put a Greddy exhaust on and I'll leave it for a while. It's a little drony but I haven't put more than 20 miles on it yet. I've found that lots of exhaust 'break in' so I'm hoping this does too.

I also picked up a resonated 2.5" Perrin for cheap from a buddy as my backup exhaust. Had it before and it's fine. Said buddy is on a Q300 and it's just so expensive even at cost that it wasn't on my radar.

Might be worth Checking for rattles in the muffler while hot.
They released a V2 update about a year ago.

Perrin is worth holding onto since they discontinued them.

I assume you're referring to the CSG? I purchased it in November 2020. It's got probably 40kish miles on it, mostly freeway, as it's been on both my BRZ that I parted out and sold, and my current FRS (both autox cars, but I drove the cars to/from events).

Yes the Perrin was dirt cheap and I had purchased one as my initial exhaust on my BRZ when I purchased it in 2015.

My only real gripe with the Perrin (and the Greddy, too) is that the muffler is shaped such that you can't get the HF 1.5t aluminum jack under the diff to lift it because the jack hits the muffler. The CSG is great because the muffler is flatter and tucks up higher. Of course now I just have a couple little ramps I carry with me just in case, since hauling a big 3-ton jack is too annoying.

Lol I feel better about being annoyed by this happening with the stock catback knowing I'm not the only one bothered by it.
