My take is the oil cooler really comes into its own if you plan to push hard for more than 3-5 laps in a row. If you're happy enough to either pit in or do a cool down between push laps you shouldn't have much issue keeping temps in a safe window on a NA car. Can't speak to anything beyond stock power levels

I been tracking without an oil cooler for 2 years now and never seen issue with my UOA temps hit 240-255. I noticed at Oulton oil temp was sorta self regulating due to the longer straights.

270 does seem high but your UOA seems good. So unless you start seeing some sort of thermal runaway you're probably fine without one.

By the way thanks for sharing the report !

Oh all this is assuming you monitor oil pressure and those are also in a safe window at these temps. Which has been the case for me running 5w-30

Installed the following:

Megan Racing OEM FLCA with spherical bushings and +15mm RCA
Hardrace RC tie rod ends +15mm
new Whiteline KCA416 camber bolts

Will be getting an alignment when it gets warmer.

First HPDE this year was mid-March at Road Atlanta, got an alignment a few days before, went back to -4.4 camber figuring 245/40/18 tires can take more load than the previous 255/35/18 (it worked!). Took the whole weekend to kick off the rust, the best time was the very last session on Sunday.

Changed the transmission fluid, looking nasty as always but the drain plug looks good.

April HPDE at Road Atlanta, hit a new PB on Saturday, was ready to push it a bit harder on Sunday to get into 1:40 and... the car bucked and sputtered when I started it on Sunday morning. CEL P1193. Got the car towed home, replaced the fuel pressure sensor and everything seems to be good again. Next event is the end of May.

Had some good HPDE events, then at the end of September at Barber was going over the tunnel turn and suddenly lost power and the revs shot up. Was able to coast in neutral to the black flag station and got towed from there to the paddock. The car would start and go into any gear with or without clutching in, had to be towed back home to Atlanta. Of course, in the usual fashion that happened on my last session Sunday, so had to wait like 4 hours for a tow and got home around 11pm.

The culprit turned out to be the clutch, the friction material is just gone from the ACT 6 puck! Not sure if their quality went down, I used the same clutch on my Mazdaspeed6 race car many years ago for many years and never had a problem (running anywhere between 300-360 whp and tq, depending on how cool the weather was). The tranny fluid came out clear, with the usual break-in shavings, and I can row through all the gears.

The plan for next year if to hit some bucket list tracks that are quite far away from me (Ozarks, Road America, Watkins Glen) so I will be slowly parting out the BRZ and looking for something hopefully more robust with the goal of reducing the probability of a breakdown (I know this is never guaranteed). I will miss the BRZ platform, but between my gen1 and gen2 it has been 8 years, so it is probably a good time to move on.

OS Giken from CSG, OEM rear diff with 4.3 gears from a 2017-2020 manual, many cheap ones on ebay.
