My wife is wanting to switch from a gas to an electric range, probably induction stove top. She's worried about indoor pollution. We've got to preserve whatever brain cells we have left.
Trouble is not only the cost of the range but also the cost of running 240v line. Running the line cost our neighbor around $2k. |

When I hear horror stories about brand new Ranges by friends & family got over the past few years I would be afraid to replace it with a lower quality unit. And parts seem to be still be available. |

![]() However, I tried that with a Agfa, but it didn't turn out so well. I dropped it in the Ocean at Haystack Rock. Took it back to the hotel room and rinced it with warm water (saved the SD card). When I got home I took it all apart and cleaned it up good. I couldn't get it back together so I took it to a camera shop and asked him to fix it. He told me he could do it but it would be cheaper for me just to buy a new camera - ![]() (yes, that was back in my drinking days - )

I have washed mechanical keyboards (specifically the old original IBM keyboards) in a dishwasher. As long as you let them dry properly, they come out looking brand new.

Never had the guts to put my Keyboards in the DW. This is the closest I came to that. Lemme just tell you it was quite therapeutic to get them back in their proper place! ![]() Ya I use a Fr keyboard on an English OS... I'm kind of mixed up like that... |

Right? If my gas range is polluting, my furnace certainly should've killed me by now

We have gas heat. I'm not on the "gas is slowly killing us" crowd, but your furnace is vented where your gas range isn't. There is a difference.

Just think, early humans, and people not that long ago used coal or wood in their homes to cook and heat. How did we survive?
