Nah, got a guy coming out tomorrow. Hopefully he can get it going for a few more years for a reasonable price.

Yep, a little baling wire and duck tape will allow that sucker to spin right up and not leak -

We are getting ready to buy a new pair washer/dryer. We've had our Samsung's (washer is a top loader) since we moved in Sept 2017 without issue.

However, the insanely hard water here in OKC, means where the nozzle sprays water in the tub, is rusted underneath the powdercoating almost to the other side. Far too gone to even attempt a janky fix. So I'm going to ensure I put a filter at least on the cold supply line for the new washer. Don't really have the money for a full home system at the moment, I mean I do, but that's not how I want to spend money until I have a full-time rather than contract gig.

Looks like a decent set with a "Pet Hair removal" feature or whatever can currently be had for around $1600-1700, tax/installed/old units hauled away. At least while the sales are still happening.

Still only 8 years. That sucks.

We have really hard well water here, but I'm afraid to put in a water softener because I'm on septic tank. However, Our washer failure had nothing to do with hard water

I got our new washer, with install and removal for $877. Property tax, holidays...perfect timing...

Some say that appliances go out in "3s"; how is your dryer, stove and fridge working?

Oven, dishwasher, and fridge are all less than 2 years old. Dryer is still working well, so no sense in replacing till it goes. My wife doesn't care that the w&d don't match.

Now my stove top is a pos. It's a Jenn-air, one of those with the exhaust vent going down in between the burners. Really stupid design that does not work. I can't put a hood over it because of where it is on the island. I won't be able to replace it and add a hood without a kitchen remodel.. so when I'm going to do something smoky, I put a big fan in a window.

We had that exact design at one point. Actually worked OK for us, but definitely had issues with something that was "smoky".

There are downdrafts that work better, but they cost almost as much as a decent stove top. When we did a kitchen remodel we considered it but ultimately moved the stove to along the wall where it could have a proper fan.

Experiences with big appliances life span seem to differ.

Was going to post about how great my Jenn-Air has been through the years, but my most used option
The clock & timer decided it was lights out last night while I was baking cookies...
I now realize how much I was compulsively button pushing that timer.

It came with the house in '94 already well used and I really don't have any budget to get it replaced yet.
The grill sure saves me from doing a BBQ outside at -30 in the winter no issues with the fan or smoke..

My only appliance that I needed to have changed was the dishwasher for a 3rd time.

While they are about the same vintage, I think you may have had a different Jenn-Air than I did. Mine was solely a kitchen cooktop and did not have a clock or timer. Our oven was a built-in in a different area of the kitchen stacked with a microwave.

The only problem we ever had with ours was the cartridges had a tendency to burn out. In fact I still have one old-new stock one in a box, and the two I pulled from the stove before it was removed during the reno. I keep meaning to put them up on eBay or something.

Our Jenn-air is gas, and only a cook top. The only thing the fan does is pull the flame to the side. The igniters don't work so well sometimes, so we keep a lighter handy. The knobs are so cheap that you have to replace them every couple years when the plastic splits.
