Time for new tires it seems. According to my log, I changed them at around 31090 miles.

Car right now, is just around 72000. Michellin claims the A/S-4 have around 45K mile warranty, got them 3 years ago. I'd say I got a little shy of that, also considering that they saw a few auto X events plus spirited driving. They have served their purpose. Even more so by being subject to -3.5 front camber and -2.8 rear.

This is why after the summer set i had installed this summer i am going to switch to all seasons. I can't seem to get more than 20k or a little more from any, got 23k from the Oem Primacy, 18 from Hankook V12 Evo, and now went to Kumho Ps31. Treadwear is labeled as 460 for the Kumho Ps31, so thats much better than the Hankooks they replaced.

If someone reads this and wouldn’t mind mentoring me. Based on mods, what would be the best route for me to take for autocross. What do I remove, add, return to stock, in order to be in a class where I can be competitive.

This is also taking in consideration that I want to improve certain things like transmission mounts, LSD, and engine mounts. All provided by Subaru.

Looks like you have two options and how competitive will depend on what local events you do..

Stick with XA and build the car how you like as I believe the rule set is pretty open. This will be the most fun and let you build something that would be fast on track as well.

Or do a DST build. I am guessing things like the RCA needs to come off and light weight pulleys the wing if you still run it.

DST is pretty awesome and a very competitive class at the moment. You need to have some serious skills to do well in DST on a national level even if you had a top built DST car.

XA can be fun indeed, but it depends on which club I am running with really. More local-ish club, Im up against an E46 with a stupid fast driver.

Less local, Im up against two co-drivers on an engine swapped RX-8, Subaru WRX STis, and some others.

I am just looking to be in a more "structured" class.

I want to say pulleys, adjustable control arms, are allowed. But this from a search using AI. The wing is gone since it was damaging/damaged the body/paint. What takes me out of it is the crash bar removal. Which that is a quick and easy fix.

Reading more into it, it appears that currently taking me out of DST are:
-Cutting the rear bumper plus crash bar.
-Whiteline roll centre correction kit
-This part is confusing, it allows equipment that would come from factory as a higher trim, but it cant be bought from performance catalog. So getting stuff from STi shop wouldn't be allowed?
F. Addition or substitution of spoilers, splitters, rear wings, bumper covers, valances, side skirts, and non-functional scoops/vents is allowed provided that either:

1. It is a standard or optional production part which could be ordered on the US model vehicle as part of the base package or part of a higher trim package. The trim package must be classed in any of the current Street Touring classes.

2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer's US accessory catalog for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for parts sold through a manufacturer's performance catalog (e.g., Ford Racing, HPD, Mazdaspeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen, NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc). Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas, including weight, from alternate sources are also permitted.


-GrimSpeed Strut bar. The 18 BRZ comes with a triangular strut bar, so that has to go because it either or, not both.

3. Wheels, I think my wheels are 17x8.5 which would suck.

Depends on what you're planning to add really... Like for example if something like motor mounts is open than you can add any motor mount you like including TRD/STi

The rule is designed to stop people from buying say a basic/stripper spec car then cherry picking all the goodies from a racer/rare trim model.

I remember back in the day for my friend to swap in a 6 speed into his 5 speed NC mx5 he also had to add cruise control and AC because you couldn't buy a 6 speed NC without those options. anyway... haha

BTW if you're just doing local events might be worth just asking if you can run DST. If your car doesn't have any clear performance enhancing modifications the local DST drivers might not care.

17x8.5 isn't awful but yeah 17x9 with a 245 a052/RE71rs would be the faster setup. but if you're seconds off the top DST driver adding a 17x9 isn't going to help that much lol.

And finally again if just doing local events you can also just compare yourself to other drivers/friends and not worry too much about classing.

I did hear that this was a popular topic with Miata drivers. I was mostly worried about the lip kit, they are replicas of STi, and I'm about to get a ducktail spoiler based on the TRD design. The performance gains would be minimal, if any at all.

Im sure my club wont really care. I just like getting trophies lol, and in XA, would be pretty impossible. Based on my last event there's only one other DST guy and my time was about 2 seconds faster than him with me being in XA haha.
