I won WBM RWD Modified Class. That was a really fun course.

Part list and maintenance updated.

Also, while at the latest event, I sat down on a Sparco QRT L seat. Absolutely loved it. It was a fixed position which would be a deal breaker for me. So I'm thinking about going to same route, in terms of seat choice, just wondering if the Buddy Club rails would work.

Ordered a Sparco Evo L seat with PCI Rails. Will update on how this combo works / install process.

Other things in mind is to remove the rear seats and DIY a cover using some cardboard and carpeting.

Being in XA class does allow for quite a few weight saving measures and so far the only thing I've managed to greatly improve was the battery.

I did two versions of a rear seat delete. One was Coroplast with carpet (used cardboard for template), then a carbon fiber plate and mounted my battery on it. Both similar in weight

Haha! Your DIY Post actually is what gave me the idea. I might need something somewhat hard because I load my tires between events.

The Sparco seat arrived. It is absolutely gorgeous and it fits me exceptionally well. Holstering on the thigh area is very nice and back padding is also good. PCI rails should arrive soon.

If you’re someone with broad shoulders and about 34-36 waist, this seat fits like a glove.

Seat is installed. Biggest pain was to assemble the rails, but other than that its been pretty good. With some drawbacks.

See my review and install guide here. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...48#post3614848

I attended my first SCCA autocross with NER. To put into perspective, my local autocross group runs in much, much smaller venues where you can probably get 30-40 second runs.

This one was in an airfield with plenty of room and lots of opportunities to "full send". Top class guys were running high 50s while I managed a 65 second run.

It was revealing, went in knowing that my approach would have to be different and that mistakes would be guaranteed. Not being used to such long courses would reveal my mistakes better than a short course. Wasn't wrong about that.

I tend to coast before I turn which costs me entry speed, then I try to brake almost mid turn to rotate the car. Which costs exit speed. Im learning as I go but the biggest thing is to brake hard, once, and get on the throttle as fast as possible but in a controlled way. The less time is spent coasting or backing off the pedal, the better.

I've actually been practicing that on the road, using the brake to shift the weight of the car for better entry/exit speed. Unsurprisingly, it works.

Must admit that it is a little disheartening getting into autocross in early 30s when most people that I've run into have been doing this for decades, with a plethora of cars . So it feels like I have to make up a lot of time on my first sports car. Only pushes me more to get good fast. Better late than never I guess.

I'm with you. I didn't start off until my mid to late 40's and I'm playing catch up a lot. I still do pretty decent but it's hard to develop the instincts needed to be competitive in my region in my 50's.

New project to work on is STi mounts for transmission and engine, paired with insert for the LSD.
I do notice some sloppiness when jumping on the throttle or trying to slowly throttle out coming out of slaloms or sweepers, almost like the weight of the car wants to shift or the engine and the Diff are at odds with each other.

Given that this is a daily, for the meantime, STi mounts vs stiffer mounts would probably be an upgrade without adding too much NVH.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

I thought about trying to the Sti motor mounts as my Perrin ones have too much NVH mostly rattle/vibration in my CF passenger door. Im just afraid I need the stiffness so my Ace headers dont crack. I also have the torque solutions trans insert

I did a little write up on those mods if you wanted to see my opinion when it was fresh in my mind.

I can’t remember what it was like before I added the mounts but I will say that I really don’t experience much driveline slack unless I’m in first gear and everything is cold. Normal driving conditions is great and track is good as well. Also no nvh increase at all. Definitely mods I would recommend
