Replacing battery in 2023 key fob?

When I parked earlier I got the yellow triangle and the warning that the battery was low.

I'm seeing conflicting info on whether I have to take it to the dealer to be reprogrammed.

I haven't been able to dig out the manual yet, my office is a mess at the moment, we had to clear out my closet yesterday as we had a pretty big risk of tornados and the closet in my office is the only room in the house the 3 dogs and the fiance and I can fit in with no external walls.

They're the same as the first gens with a push start. Pop the battery out, replace, works like new again.

They do seem to need replaced fairly frequently. My old push button fobs from Subaru would go 5+ years or more, sometimes even longer, without needing replaced. These fancy fobs need batteries every ~2 years or shorter sometimes.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. When I was looking up the procedure for it (just to ensure I didn't try to open the case in the wrong spot and break it) I noticed a lot of places saying it needed to be reprogrammed.

And I thought, "How f@cking stupid is that?"

My dealership swapped my battery out for free while the was in for a routine service visit. YMMV.

The light just happened to come on while they were doing their check-in routine and the SA did it right there on the spot.

I took it in the weekend before last for my last free oil change, 4 oil changes in 4400 miles and 2.5 years!

And they swapped it out for free, I said, "Damn, I should have brough the spare."

He said, "Just bring it with the next time you stop by and we will swap it out for you."
