If you're tires are overheating in 2 laps, you'll want to make sure you have appropriate tires and are not overdriving them.

You'll always benefit from having better pads.

I like and use the Cuscos on my 1st gen. I've added rear track width but still use the "old" lower motion ratio setting. You get a tiny bit more wheel travel in that setting. The difference in stiffness isn't very big either way, it's much less than a 1 kg/mm jump in spring rates for example.

I ordered several STI parts because why not. Springs, Engine and Trans mount, and steering rack long bolt kit. I also ordered Whiteline diff inserts and the Perrin Lockdown stuff. I got the feeling that subframe inserts would add the most NVH, so I'm going to see how high NVH gets with all of these one at a time, and if I end up with leftover tolerance, then I'll keep going.

Of all the options for anti-squat, which do you recommend? I'm hopeful that these tame the rear during throttle spikes more than they promote general understeer.

I recommend and use the MCA traction mod on my car. I'd consider the GP sports piece, I'd not use the GKtech one.

For the diff inserts, you can reduce the resulting noise quite a bit if you don't install either the top or bottom of the forward inserts. I think I removed the bottom after installing and it was just right for me.

Does anyone state-side carry these things? Also, where the hell do I buy or even pirate a service manual? There is a bunch of bracing under here that took more than 1 ugaduga to remove.

Not sure this is the right thread for driveline mod reviews so I'll keep it brief.

Perrin Lockdown + STI long bolts: Absolutely worth it, but the dollar to benefit ratio isn't super high. I can afford it, but others may find more value in other mods. I'm super happy with it. One downside, surprise surprise, if you unbolt the steering rack, expect to need an alignment.

STI Transmission Mount: Absolutely worth it. I only notice gear whine on smooth roads with the radio off in a stock car while actively trying to hear it. Well worth the money. Car actually seems smoother to drive, and more responsive. Do it.

I managed to bandsaw the blocks off the STI engine mounts, just waiting on hardware from Subaru. Prepping to do diff bushing inserts this week.

Running Tarmac 2s. After having the car corner balanced, I noticed a clunking from right front. Lifted it up and it appears because the adjustable perch is so low (to get cross weights even) that there isn't any tension on the spring causing this to rattle. Is there a solution here or do I just live with it? Car is only driven on track, I just don't like rattles because hard to tell if it's a normal rattle or a bad rattle.

Those look like Swift springs. How long are they? From what I read Swift doesn't offer 170mm springs like the original KW ones, you either use 6" (too short) or 7" (too long). Are yours 6"? The RCE setup guide has a minimal distance from spring perch to top mounting hole of the strut of 70mm. What's your measurement there? If you're below 70mm you might need to raise all four corners so that every corner is above the minimum height.

Thanks for the suggestion and pointers to to docs, I will take some measurements and see what I find.

You won't be disappointed. Definitely on list of mods I'd do right away if I got another one.
