2013 Scion FRS/86 Track Car Roller — 6MT Manual /w 4-Point Roll Cage — $6400
SOLD
I unfortunately experienced an engine failure this past weekend at Watkins Glen and have decided to part the car out to sell it as a roller. This is a very clean chassis with a clean title that is half-caged and ready to be someone's track toy or the basis for a 2JZ / K24 / LS3 / FA24 swap. I'm personally looking to maximize seat time at the track this season, so I will not be electing to rebuild or replace the engine in the interest of time. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Happy to chat via phone call / text / PM / video chat — just ask! I'm located in 07010 NJ and happy to have the car delivered via flatbed to anywhere within 100 miles at no cost. Otherwise, buyer will need to pickup and arrange transport for the car as it does not run. A llittle history/context about the car's original owner / ownership tenure: - I purchased the car in Fall of 2024 with ~90K miles from its original owner, a mature and responsible gentleman who bought and owned the car since it was brand new; he decided to sell it because he moved on to a C7 Corvette - Car was very well kept; it is in fantastic cosmetic condition and shows exceptionally well; I couldn't believe it was a 2013 when I first picked it up - The original owner drove it as a daily for most of its life, and then started tracking it about 2-3 times a year in its latter years. He converted it to be a primarily HPDE-purposed car in 2023; this consisted of stripping out the airbags and and the interior from the 2nd row back, as well as installing a welded-in 4-point roll cage (the interior is still in tact from the front row forward, and has fully functional windows, AC, etc.). Only thing in the front row that has been stripped out is the headliner and head unit, for which a cover plate was installed in its place; the OEM head unit is included in the sale and is of course completely plug and play - All the original interior pieces, to include airbags/liners/trim pieces, will be included with the sale of the car Details of the car under my ownership: - I purchased this to be a dedicated HPDE car; I wanted something intuitive and inexpensive to use to learn/progress with; racking up seat time and laps was the goal - I've put ~1K miles on the car driving it to/from/on the track; I drove it for 3 track days this season. Its been a blast right up until the very end; car is super intuitive and handled exceptionally well; I was really looking forward to a great season with it - Engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, and brake fluid were changed (or bled, in the case of brake fluid) after EVERY SINGLE track day — I'm anal about maintenance and use FCP Euro for my fluids, so it costs me nothing but the price of shipping to do fluids and I elect to do them after every single track day Details of how the engine failed and what led to this car being posted here for sale as a roller: - Car drove hard and fast without issue until the very end, where it unexpectedly and without any fanfare or indication cut all power on track after an upshift from 3rd to 4th gear. I have a video that is linked at the bottom of t his post showing Go-Pro footage of the exact moment this happened. No prior noises or knock, no early indication — simply driving hard one second, and complete loss of power the next - I pulled the car into the grass off the side of the track and was rope-towed out to the paddock via the front tow hook without issue - After letting the engine bay cool down, a couple things were checked, to include removing the oil filter to check for glitter/signs of engine failure — there was unfortunately what looked to be a small pile (about 1/2 the size of a dime) of bearing material that had settled onto the thermostatic adapter, directly below the oil filter, so its likely that the engine failed due to a spun bearing, or something to that effect 2013 Scion FRS - VIN: JF1ZNAA11D1703795 - Ultramarine Blue - 91,000 miles - Clean title, in hand, ready to go Car will include the complete stock interior pieces (rear seats, liners, airbags, trim pieces, etc.) incase the next owner would like to reinstall it or just wants to have it. Modifications:
Fluids currently in the car: - Engine: Driven DI40 0W40 - Transmission: Motul Gear 300 75w90 - Differential: Motul Gear 300 75w90 - Brake: Castrol SRF Also included with the car are the: - Stock seats and 3-point belts - Stock header, overpipe, midpipe - All stock interior parts (headliner, liners, rear seats, etc.) $7000 for the car configured as listed $6400 if you prefer to bring your own wheels/tires and don't want the Apex wheel/tire set Full album of pictures and vidoes (exterior, interior, video of precise moment the engine failure happened, etc.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Significantly changed (simplified) the listing and way the car will be sold.
Looking to sell it either mostly as-is, or can also offer to have an FA20 or FA24 swapped in for the buyer if that’s of interest. |
