I guess I should keep this going... :-)

I bought the car from Will, and took delivery at Sebring and did a couple days at the track with Chin.

As he mentioned, I had a 2nd gen (GR86) that I used exclusively on track but it was pretty much stock. I thought about gutting, caging, and then some light mods but decided to look for something that was already a dedicated track car.

The club I do most of my events with runs a combination HPDE/Time Trial format in the Northeast, going to NHMS, TMSP, Palmer, WGI and a few other tracks in the area.

Car has been in hibernation, but got it out this past weekend. First order of business was hitting the reset button on stickers and vinyl...

Next up is some maintance and prep for the season, getting some electronics setup in the car and dealing with the exhaust, which the flange broke off the pipe...

More to come next time...

Took the car to Thompson in CT and ran it on some old 245 A052s, pretty happy with how it's running....

I do time trials and with the way tires are pointed in our classing system, A052 is the tire to have.

I feel like I get 5-6 hot laps and then they slow down but then next session they have the same pace. Even when they slow down they're still quick.

If you want a lapping tire I don't think they're the one.

Our time trials are setup in such a way that you have to go out on cold tires and then you have an out lap and three laps to set a time, so the A052 is good because it's quick and lights up quickly and doesn't carry too many penalty points (like an A7 or R7)

YMMV

That Mako Motorsports Mount looks pretty dope! Was there much issue getting the links plug ecu to work with the stock dash removed ? I saw someone having issues with ABS without the stock cluster

Yeah, it's really slick. I don't have any great pictures but the fit and finish is excellent. Looks very factory built race car. I had Mako install two LEDs for the directionals to save inputs and AIM LEDs.

I have seen people report issues with ABS, I have not had any issues and I am running stock ABS.

It all works pretty seamlessly for me. The AIM has two canbus inputs so I use 1 for the OEM subaru and 1 for Link.

I get chassis data, like whether the headlights are on or the stability or traction is turned on/off, etc. from the Subaru CANBUS.

I get all of the data from the Link, like RPM, Lambda, Oil Temp, Coolant Temp, Ethanol Content, etc. from the Link CANBUS.

Fuel level and ambient temp are signals directly into the clsuter, so in my case I mapped those out and use analog inputs on the AIM dash.

Thanks for the detailed post! My setup is a bit more basic with just a 3d bracket my friend printed out for me ha and no standalone ecu

Can I ask how you pulled in the headlight/tc data via the oem can bus ?

I have my aim display pulling can H/L from the odb2 port and just selected the 86 ecu in aim race studio 3.. Are you building a custom can profile or something ?

I would LOVE to see if the TC was on and setup an alarm to remind me/icon

cruise control would be cool as well haha

Thanks !
