For this car, you’d have to prove cost/event is at or beneath a traditional setup. Given that base oe rotors are like $40/each and last forever it’s a tough hill to climb. Brakes that are effective and handle whatever gets thrown at them are easily available at reasonable costs so there isn’t any pent up demand.
Personally street manners are important so you’d have to clear that hurdle too. There’s an analysis from like a decade ago that someone’s bbk paid for itself after like 35-40 track events. That was a <$3k product iirc. Good luck. |

Many people confuse Carbon Ceramic for the Carbon Carbon discs used in professional racing (F1, IndyCar, IMSA, etc.). They are NOT the same material. Below is a link to an article I wrote on Carbon Ceramic disc a few years back. Everything in the article remains relevant today: Are Carbon Ceramic Brake Discs Better than Iron?

Jeff, thanks for that article! I thought I knew about carbon brakes, but never really differentiated between the carbon and carbon ceramic.
After reading your information, plus all the exotic owners who switch from carbon ceramic to iron for tracking, I'm sold. Much appreciated. ![]() The detail about carbon ceramic requiring larger pad area and having much higher heat transfer to the caliper is a real clincher. |
