Yep, that Panasonic battery served me well. All I had to do was give it a drink of water about every year and in its last year, give it a spark about once a month.

Back in the day, I would have just nursed it along for another year and just push started the car if necessary. Today, I couldn't push start a lawnmower.

can one push start these cars if they have a dead battery?

Couldn't count on bump starting my x386 game computer.
That only dented the corners on the case.

After leaving the key on and the radiator fans going during the lunch break at a track day, I can definitively say that you can push start these things. Granted, I had to think through the process since it has been at least 30 years since I last push started a car.

As long as there's enough juice to hear the fuel pump prime the rails, it's good to push.

Pulled trans today. New exedy OEM clutch+flywheel, battle garage TOB, verus fork+pivot, and front bearing cover.

I haven't tried without it to compare, but it certainly went together pretty easily. Wiggled it for about 2-3 minutes and it slide in most of the way. Was able to snug it to the block by gently tightening bell housing bolts cross pattern a little bit at a time.

Gently rotated the output shaft at the back of the trans to help line it up better to the clutch.

Be careful about tweaking that AC hardline! Just noticed it.

When I did mine, I used a scissor jack (trailer leveler) to prop up the front of the engine to keep it from leaning forward, helped a lot.

I borrowed a friend's lift which didn't leave me many options for supporting the engine. He had a tall spinny arm jack that I used to help support the transmission while we wiggled it in and out.

I removed my Verus front wheel air deflectors and reinstalled the oem ones. I couldn't hardly drive anywhere without finding something to scrape.

And how about that 1/4" composite aluminum piece between the splitter and engine cover and wheel wells? I bet it gets me 0.0000002% less drag and lift.

I dropped her off at a tire shop for a set of Conti Extremecontact dws. Can't wait to get her back.

Had it PDR'd completely following some light hail damage, and took the opportunity to correct the 50+ door dings and small impacts the car had gotten in its first life.





All are gone save for one on the wheel arch. It looks like a new car. They also polished it a little bit and corrected some small paint repairs that had been done approximately.

Also, installed the updated facelift door stoppers (sooo much better), and a knock-off MC brace.

I've been curious how that throwbout bearing feels. I'm planning on swappinmg clutch, flywheel, fork, and pivot in a few months, debating adding that on or sticking OEM.
They're pretty pricey too, and I'm kind of expecting it to have only a 20% longer life time than oem's throwout bearing .. but who knows.
