How did you attach the GPS signal piece?
I can figure out everything but that. |

so i was screwing with mine now that i have my avic-x940bt almost completely installed and i learned a few things. in case anyone wanted to split their connections i can tell you now that it WILL work. audio can be split from the aux jack. now some people may be asking why this is a big deal. WELL if you are trying to connect an idevice to the avic-x940bt at least your cable has to split into both usb and aux or it won't work. that means if you plug those into the hu harness then you no longer would be able to use the factory aux for anything else. i found that using a y splitter for the aux will allow you to plug in either a regular device through aux or an idevice. i also found that the avic-x940bt does in fact support usb hubs as well. so this also means you could potentially split that. it shouldn't be an issue if you're using standard usb or only want one idevice connection and the rest can be regular usb, but if you want more than one idevice connection then i'm not so sure yet. i'm going to do some more testing to see if i can create more than 1 idevice connection. woo!

So does anyone know if I can play video through this mod? getting a 3 ring jack and getting a servo connection with 4 wires instead of 3?
And anyone find anything on getting the factory mic to work with a aftermarket HU? Making a list of the things I'll need to do my install - I think I have everything else just wondering about these 2 details. |

Regarding the HU, I like the 7" Pioneer Z140bh and especially the new bigger screen 8" alpine 928hd w/standard 2din may help to cover the 2 side gaps when you look at it.

I have also put in the AVIC-Z140BH, I ran the pioneer iPod cable into my glove compartment. I still want to use the factory USB to charge my phone, don’t care if it connects to the radio, how can I get it to have power?

Pioneer AVH-P8400BH AutoEQ settings
I installed the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH with everything else factory in my U.S. FR-S and then ran the AutoEQ with the special mic and the settings it came up with were:
0 2 6 -8 -2 6 2 0 It was tricky to get the menu item to stop being greyed out and selectable, I had to change my backup camera from battery to "off" and then was able to run the AutoEQ. |

This 3-pole servo connector solution doesn't seem to be correct. Did anyone else notice the before pics of where it plugs in that there are 5 wires? At a minimum, I would expect there to be 4 since the plug supports audio and video. I'd like to see this tested out with an iPhone streaming video to a HU (Preferably a Pioneer since that's what I'll be putting in).
EDIT: I just went outside to look at my iPod cable that came with the BeSpoke HU. It is only a 3-pole 3.5mm jack. I don't know if that's just the cable or if the jack is only 3-pole as well. If so, that will suck because the cable from my x920bt is definitely a 4-pole to stream video. I'll try to do some experimenting at some point if nobody else knows for sure about the jack. If it is just 3-pole, then the simple servo connector will work just fine for people that don't need video from it.

I've been trying to get my stock usb/aux working but having some trouble with the usb part. I can squeeze the tip of the usb cable into the back of the factory usb port but it doesnt seem to be working. I did notice that the pins in the back of the stock piece seem closer together than on the end of the usb cable. do you have to bend the pins in towards eachother to make better contact?
