i really wouldn't consider nissan trucks at this point given how they haven't sold as well as expected, and they've already announced the titan is going to be discontinued

The Titans were really love/hate. I knew 3 people that had them, only 1 liked it. The other two thought it had plenty of power but the fuel mileage was dog shit compared to similar trucks and they had modern Nissan problems.

Always interesting to see how different such things are on the other side of the pond. Over here for such a light car we would just use the regular daily diesel volvo wagon to do the job.

I use my truck for a lot more then towing my car, I also live in mountainous area. Even with my car on the trailer I see transmission temps upwards of just over 200F depending on the track I am driving to, that is getting into the “not good” category.

distances between things are dramatically more, we also have more stringent SAE standards for towing, and a significant lack of wagons as well.

Oh man, I remember when I was on the hunt for a truck to haul my buddy's race car. We spent weekends going to different tracks, so we needed something reliable. Ended up with a used Ford F-150, and let me tell you, that thing was a champ.
If you're looking at Tacomas, they're cool for daily stuff but might struggle with heavier loads. Have you considered something like a Chevy Silverado or even an older Dodge Ram? These trucks have some muscle, especially for monthly track hauls. And definitely check out heavy-duty trailer sales too. When we were looking, we found some solid options that could handle the weight and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Last edited by j5o5n; 12-21-2023 at 12:52 PM. |

my 2022 2WD Ford Ranger has no trouble pulling my 2013 FRS and old ass heavy car trailer. Pretty decent gas mileage just a small tank only 18 gallons.

We have a 2002 Tundra with the 4.7 3UZ, we've had no problems towing over 5 k lbs. No need to get anything fancy or new..
