u-haul hitch

I've been looking at the best way to get mountain bikes around. seems a hitch is the best way. I've pretty much settled on a hitch from u-haul and a thule bike rack. u-haul has two different hitches on their sight. does anyone know what the difference between them is? one says round tube with 1000lbs max and the other is 2000lb max but cheaper. i've never bought hitch before so i'm very unfamiliar with anything about them. any help would be great.

That looks like a pretty solid option for a bike. I have one of the generation 1 uhaul hitches which gets mounted to the rear bumper beam support. Pretty easy install and it hides really well. Pretty much all the other ones mount to the frame rail and are kind of a pain underneath the car but do the trick.

You'll really only need the lower weight one for a bike really no reason to go bigger.

If you can find one of the gen 1 uhaul guys those are awesome. Also no problems with aftermarket exhausts

I can get these for about 25-30% off, If there is enough interest I can open up a vendor account and setup a group buy.

do you know by chance what the new ones look like on the car. the picture they show on the website looks like the yours with only the receiver sticking out but the install instructions look like the curt hitch with a bar running across the whole bottom. i tried talking to uhaul but they pretty much just told me to google it.

There's a bar that sits underneath the car, kind of makes it very difficult to fit aftermarket exhaust. I briefly had that style on the car but quickly found one of these and returned the other style. Didn't allow my invida exhaust on there, had to be stretched to fit, which is apparently standard, and really didn't look good with that flat bar sitting below the bumper. Kind of a shame there isn't anything else like this out there.

I know for awhile there was a guy on the forums selling one but that was some time ago

Kind of looks like this guy (i think on a forester or something like that)

well that sucks. i don't want the bar running across the bottom and now that's pretty much the only option aside from spending twice as much on the tow hook ones.
