Hello, you seem to really know your fa20 engines. I was wondering if you would know if a 2013 manual scion engine would be compatible with my 2015 auto brz. and if so would you know what I would need from the 2013 car like the harness or coils. I'm just wondering if I should buy this engine or if I would be better off trying to find a different engine.

i believe there was a change in 2015 on the spark plug coil connections, many 2013's were also subject to the j02 valve spring recall-- if it was performed, it could cause other issues.

the manual cars also don't have the vacuum pump the automatic cars have--not sure how complete the motor needs to be. and of course, there's the clutch/flexplate difference for the manual/automatic.

i want to say it's possible, as long as you use your 2015 engine harness. though i would highly recommend focusing the search more for 2014+ engines to avoid any recall risks.

Thank you very much for this information it makes me much more comfortable buying the engine. the reason I am going with the 2013 scion is that I'm getting a very good price on it, less than half price of anything close by and its still fully functional in the car right now. ill let you know how everything goes. Thanks again

early last week, i 'punched' the passenger side mirror getting too close to a construction barricade. they had pushed the barricades way out into a narrow 2-way street for some ground work, leaving little space for traffic to flow. i found the one furthest out in the street.

fortunately, the window was closed at the time, otherwise all the shards would've exploded over the interior. instead they impressioned/scratched the passenger window in the outline of the folded mirror position.


normally, i'm more diligent about this sort of thing, making sure i'm at least 2-3" away, but it was long hot day, i was tired, and just wanted to be somewhere else.
