Some more ZMax action. Ended up 10th overall PAX out of 200 and 5th in Pro Street Tire out of 24. I'm pretty happy with that because this site gets a lot of past national champion and trophy winners seeing that it's a national tour site. I was a little off here or there and could have been more aggressive in other spots, but it felt like a very good run.

Frankly I'm impressed you can even keep track of where the "track" is! Very technical. Nice run!

CCR has a habit of making courses with bad visuals. There were a number of novices that totally missed sections. I understand minimizing cone use, but a couple of walls of pointer cones would go a long way

Did my first event with my car working again. Did some A to B runs and didn't break anything. Hopefully next time I remember how to drive and don't have video/audio issues. I might not have been fast but it was fun to get back out there after almost 2 year and I sounded rad too.

This site is always fun with a grippy surface and a decent layout, if it is slightly sketchy with things to hit if you do something very wrong. Ended up .02 seconds out of top PAX to a CS Miata. There were a few karts and Hoosier cars, so Raw was a bit further down, but I was the fastest street tire car by over half a second.
Making the jump to STR I was definitely expecting to have faster raw times, but it seems I'm doing better PAX than I had been in DS. My only conclusion is that I just get on with the car a lot better now that it has the basic STR bits.

Every year I beat myself up running a first gen in DS and getting hammered on by the CTR, EN, and 2nd gen. I can never pull the trigger on coilovers and wheels. Anyways, here's my most recent event. 9th in PAX out of about 54. Non-SCCA region. However, I'm not usually in the top ten. New A052's had something to do with it coming from completely dead RT660's with 235 runs.

Here are my STX winning vids from the South Texas National Tour. The car has gotten a spicier tune recently, but the rev limiter isn’t quite right and causes the revs to drop a lot before throttle can be used again, so, lots of 3rd gear in places where bumping 2nd woulda been better. Eh. Either way, on the strength of my Sunday run, I moved all the way to 5th in the overall PAX! Super happy considering how distracting the issue was. I'm sure we will get it worked out for the next one.
Saturday, 3rd run +1. 2nd run was .8 slower but good for 13th in Saturday PAX. This scrappy run would have been good for 4th without the cone - Sunday, much better and good for 4th in Sunday PAX -

Fast run! That was intense as hell. Nice white-knuckle driving there! Thanks for sharing.

Here's our most recent local SCCA event. DS always runs first because it's such a packed class with I think 17 drivers. Both our first events of the year have been raining in the morning and then clearing up later, so if you run second heat, you have a clear advantage come the end of the day. In probably 10+ years of doing this, I've never had it work out in my favor, lol.
A052's are beasts in the rain, especially in a 225 size.

Finally we had a fully dry event for the first time out of about 8 events total I've done this year.
I've been running my Yoks (street class, 225's, ~1 degree of camber) at 37/35 psi, but in talking to a few higher end drivers, they're up at 40psi+ for the RE-71RS and suggested I'd be at least at 40PSI on the Yoks due to their soft sidewalls. I did notice when going from ~32PSI to 37 on the 660's, there was a massive difference feel and pickup in time. What are you street class guys running for pressures and on what tire?

Had a two day event this past weekend at Zmax, the week before the National Tour there as well, so I made the 2 hour drive down to get warmed up on that surface. Ended up fastest street tire time on day one by 0.5 seconds, and second on day 2 by 0.05 seconds. Now to be reminded next weekend that I have the wrong STR car.

First day of our "Super Duper" Tour here. Didn't really end up where I wanted in terms of PAX rankings, but I also have to remind myself constantly that going up against the gen 2 twins in DS, CTR, and Elantra N with less power and less tire isn't the smartest, lol.

Figured I would post a video from my latest event. Had a good run going, until I coned in the middle and completely blew up the end.

I've been running 32psi on 660's (225/45/17's) in DS. You're comment about running a hight PSI has me thinking. I might give it a try next event. I assume you're running the same pressure on all four corners?
