VERY impressed with the Scion version of the FT, even if it is officially a Scion
. In many ways, I feel that FR-S front end brings back much of the softer tones and character that were missing in the edgier FT concept II, making it look better and much closer to the original concept:![]() ![]() Scion managed to smooth and round out certain areas making the car very appealing from most angles. Would like to see the same LED lighting in headlamp housing though for production. The FT86 Concept II has some weird styling elements that turned me off (LEDs, side vent, more pronounced character lines), but I did prefer the cleaner look of having the license plate sit below the bumper. Of course, I'm just as disappointed that the FR-S' rear has a blatantly large SCION "badge" to serve as a big "F" you to Toyota purists. I'm hoping this is just purely concept and that a regular emblem will be slapped for the production version so we can rebadge it as a Toyota. Other than the rear, the only 2 questionable areas that concern me are the additional creases around the headlights and behind the front wheel arches:

"While only a concept… the FR-S shows what is possible with Scion owners’ creativity and easy ability to personalize. It’s a vehicle that will inspire a new model coming to market next year."
this is the line that worries me. what do they mean that it's only a concept and that it is inspiring something else? are they not making this production and making a completely different car, or are they just gonna get rid of the over the top stuff on the concept?

Yes very very very nice. Probably completely overboard, but I still like. I wonder how that would affect the ease of replacing a flat with a spare? I mean if the whole disc brake/rotor is attached to the rim, it can't be as easy as the traditional wheel?

Didn't some speculate that crease (which leads to the hole under the headlights) could be used for improved airflow for the engine (on the Mk1)? |

I was wondering what you guys think of the headlights? I still think I prefer the Mk1 headlights. Something like Mk1>>>>>>Mk3=Mk2.
Same thing regarding taillights. I prefer the Mk1 style. |
