Starting problem, no resolutions in 8 months

Hey y’all, got a brain bender for you

Here’s the breakdown, my gf’s FRS (2015 AT) has a starting issue and has for 8 months, the car got tuned on ECUTek by delicious tuning and they’ve been extremely helpful but still no fix at all. Mod lists goes as follows, HKS drop in filter, custom catless headers, no name exhaust (came on car), Cusco catch can, rally suspension, rally wheels, etc. nothing done to engine other than filter and exhaust.

So here’s the problem, the car runs great, like an absolute dream, but it does not start the first time on hot start. It starts every single time on cold start, except when it’s hot outside. On hot start and when it’s warm outside, it can take 4-10 times to get the car running. It idles for a couple seconds, really roughly, then it turns off.

Data logging wise, the injectors just turn off, they go to zero on the data table right before the car dies.

You can unplug the MAF sensor and put the car in limp mode and the car will start everytime, no matter hot or cold.

We really can not figure out what it is, there’s been no luck at getting closer with a solution and she’s been dealing with it since November, it’s kinda just become something she’s lived with. However getting into the summer months, it’s getting worse and taking significantly longer to get the car running when she wants to drive it.

Any ideas on what we should do, really ready to figure this one out, ECUTek had no idea what the issue could be. No hate or slander towards delicious at all, they have been absolutely amazing in terms of support

Hell, that's waay over my pay grade - however, I'd start by replacing the MAF sensor.

Has the main harness ever been disconnected? Sounds like a wiring issue you’ll either need to chase down with a multimeter or just Chuck money at.

Since you have not modified your engine have you reloaded stock tune? This would be a good way to eliminate tune/software issues.

I had a damaged o-ring on my MAF and the car was intermittently having idle issues. Replaced the (original) MAF and the issues went away.

+1 on getting a new MAF.
