Let me start by saying that on a DynoJet 4th gear makes 10whp more than 3rd gear!

The FRS I was working on today belongs to Prime Motoring - Thanks mike for letting me do my thing while your in Poland !

Just like the dynosheet says -

Stock Car w/ Stock Flash VS Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ Stock Flash

Looks like the header picks up great power all by itself.

Here is a surprise to me - STG1 Flash on Stock Car vs STG1 Flash w/ Vivid Racing V1 Header..

Stock car with the STG1 flash makes more power!

Finally - Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ STOCK FLASH vs Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ STG1 Flash

Discuss !

Please note I was very clear - all runs were in 4th gear.
Thanks for posting the results, is there a baseline dyno to compare these results with for the same cars on the same dyno >?

Would love for you to try E-85. I used it on my Evo X and loved it! Cheap race gas

I'm hoping I can get e85 to work too.

I just need to figure out how to compensate the direct injection for the extra fuel needed. I know it can become, just don't know which map will give the best results

Run #1 on the dynosheet is the baseline.

So basically a stock car with a flash can make an extra 13whp??? and the torque dip is significantly shortened???

Extra 18 whp...they lost power with the header, so that was the lower number.

John,

Would it be possible to get an overlay of the baseline and the STG1 flash w/ stock header?

Thanks!

This dyno chart is confusing to me. The colors are too similar and i can barely tell a difference between them. I may be mistaken, but it seems that you may have mis-labeled the lines at the torque dip. I highlighted what i think is the stock car w/flash in blue. Please clarify. Thank you.

(sorry had to use dropbox cuz imgur is down and my office blocks everything else)

The re-flash is $950 plus shipping, and yes. If you need to take the car in for warranty work, you just have to flash the stock map back in.

^ all easily done with a laptop?

(thats the way I do it with my bike anyway - I assume its not all that different)

Edit: $950 seems a bit pricey. For my bike a powercommander was $280 plus $300 for a tune on the dyno. Apples to oranges - I know.

Yes, he just had a laptop and the cable and within a few minutes it was flashed. Now all the time and effort that went into making the flash is a different story that John could answer, but the actual flashing process seemed extremely simple.

He flashed my car yesterday to test fuel economy for him and also watched him switch the Whiteout FRS with the header back and forth from Stock to Stage 1 for dyno pulls.

So forgive me ignorance, but I have to ask, if a simple tune can increase engine power a fairly significant amount while increasing MPG, why would Subaru and Toyota have left it as is? There must be some reason. I don't imagine there's a significant emissions difference between stock and flashed. How much does this tune lean things out?

I think a lot of it has to do with emissions...

Tune doesn't lean the car out except a little but during WOT - but nothing crazy.

If $950 is the price for this canned tune it is outlandish. Over the past few years I have had a 370Z and a Mini Cooper tuned with software and several dyno runs for less than $600 each.
