Switched to Red Line MT-90 and it's way smoother when cold. |

Interested to hear the results as well. Here in NY I will stick with a good 0w20 like Motul, as I do a lot of highway and only some spirited runs. But if I was tracking I would use 5w30 or higher.

Here is the Australian manual. Proof that 0w-20 is just EPA-enforced emissions compliance BS in the USA.

Is it weird living on the bottom side of the flat earth? Love that you took the time to highlight that the manual says "if the vehicle is operated at high speeds or under extreme load conditions." You know RACE CARS. Skipping over the paragraph that says 0W-20 is what comes from the factory and gives better MPG and cold starting if that's a factor. 0W-20 is preferred right there in black and white. Also any 0 weight oil is made from 100% man-made synthetic base stock oil. 5 weight and higher oil is made from crude oil base and modified enough to be called "Full Synthetic". That is why 0w-20 will cost more than 5w-30 from the same brand.

I don't see 85 anywhere on what he posted. Where's that number coming from?
Even if we go by the useless temp graph they provided it also goes down below 0F. So what was your point exactly? Seriously asking. The graph show 0W-20, 5W-20 and 5W-30 all exactly the same in temp. Below 0F to above 80F. |

I'm not going to say it's every single one - but the ones I know are epically cold-intolerant: confused as to how our entire infrastructure doesn't come grinding to a halt under 40F, and patently bewildered that I'll intentionally go outdoors to sit in a tree stand at 3F or colder. |

I've always ran 0W-20 and had no issues, however I think i'll be swapping over to 5W-20 on my next change.
