rev in neutral but with clutch disengaged (pedal pressed down)
if noise disappears then your problem is with transmission input shaft. if noise remains (or is worse) then your issue is with the pressure plate, throwout bearing, or something from fork forward to flywheel. |

Then it is not the throw out bearing, and is likely the transmission or input shaft bearing.
My guess is some installation error.

if it goes away when pedal is depressed, then your transmission input shaft bearing is going bad. source: I just spent $600 last year to rebuild my stock S13 240SX transmission because I had the exact same issue with an OE replacement clutch. |

If everything was good prior to clutch then the input shaft probably did not degrade that fast. Generally speaking “it was working until we did X” then X is the problem.

Thanks for help guys you been more than helpfull figguring this one out.
My 2015 Toyota 86 is going in for an inspection on Monday, by the same people who installed the clutch. Everyone is saying to send it back to the people who installed the clutch as they can warranty their work. I will keep you posted. Funny enough when the problem happened I was driving back from holiday a 3 hour 200 km trip there and back. I was thinking my car is so reliable and i have not had any problems. It's the first time driving at 110 km on this trip. |

Got my car back and they replaced a $53 thrust bearing. The noise has gone, so now see if I can get my money back through a warranty claim for the $567 I paid to get the transmission out and inspected.
What a pain the HASS. |

Should be the throwout bearing. The flywheel has the pilot bearing(bushing).

That’s my take. I don’t know that I’d call the throw out bearing a thrust bearing. Technically I guess you could, but I don’t remember ever having heard it called that.

So, ive finally got a response from Australian Clutch Services. I need to file a warranty claim and go with the original seller of the clutch, which ive done and now waiting on a response from them to get back to me.
Dont really have high hopes as it would be easier just to ignore. |
