Yeah, BMWs are real solid.. the valve bodies only fail on every newer one ever. I think BMW and Volkswagen are tied for cars with the most drama.
Having owned a BMW I completely agree with you, the stupid thing had at least 1 random part failure every year- water pump, steering pump, coil packs, temp sensors etc.

So in other words, I do not regret buying my 86

But honestly, there are more problems than I expected.
(Rear deck noise is the one I can't stand.)

If I could go back in time... I still would get it.
Ya, what is that damn noise! i noticed it today, sounds like a loose bolt or something is rattling around!

I disagree, good sir! I believe WE simply have high expectations. Have you forgotten this car IS a Toyota? I don't know about you, but for my hard earned $, I do not, will not accept a half-assed job!

As for a perfect car...my Showroom floor purchased 1998 240SX 5mt, was just that! (minus the hp) So yes I DO seek perfection...because I know it exists.

Oh? Keep drivin' buddy...they're coming! I picked my car up on July 23rd and I've already met some of "the spectres" discussed on this forum.

The one complaint I have is that my girlfriend can't seem to learn to close the door without touching the window. Fingerprints everywhere!
Man my girl has the same damn problem it drives me nuts.

The problems that bother me are simple things like interior quality and rattle noise. nothing big enough for me to go all way to dealership.

and for some of you. if you got nothing nice to say go fk your self. eather answer the question or go troll some other post.!
you shouldn't Anchorage him

Personally I totally dig the car. Even new it didn't have the fit, finish or refinement of my Mercedes (even after 70k miles), but by this time my Mercedes entire climate control system had gone out after 400 miles...in the rain...on a hot day, imagine the condensation. It took Mercedes over a week to replace it.

I guess I have no complaints about the car because I like cars that have a bit of personality and room for improvement, by me. I drive a 69 MG Midget with 2/60 A/C, so no complaints there. Rattles? My Jeep's got that covered in spades and I ride 2 Harley's to compete with anything else that goes wrong.

The Mercedes was sterile compared to this car. A bit too civilized. Hell, even my sportbike was a Ducati...talk about tinkering with something all the damn time.

This. Are there things I'd like improved, sure, that's true with every car I've ever owned, but hopefully I can improve them all myself. For now, I'm enjoying the drive.

I think there's a difference between expectations and entitlement. $25K will get you fun, but one can't demand perfection for it when there are million dollar cars out there. Also, for those of you that hate rattles or whatever other issues, why not go get yourself a job at Toyota and make things better? I'm totally serious here. The community will love you even more for it if you actually love your job and proactively tackle issues like this before they get to the public.

Of course, the complaints I've seen on here have been really minor - probably things that can be fixed with Dynamat or something. If you really can't get over the tiny issues while driving, you're really missing the forest for the trees.

This is my first stick car. It has to be the most fun car I've ever driven. I can't get into the power yet because I'm still learning how to shift smooth and I only have 86 miles on the car but I don't regret it at all.

I wanted a fun car to drive, if I wanted to destroy all other cars I would have bought a corvette, or a lotus, or any other number of cars with more power. But that's not the purpose of this car.

This car is a somewhat light, fun to drive, nimble toy that turns heads and does what it says it will. It really doesn't make any promises to be luxury, super fast, or anything like that. It excels at a lot of things, but not everything.

I got exactly what I wanted and I haven't felt that way about a car in my entire life.

My answer was simple, because I know this car is about the drive....not about seat warmers, infotainment, electronic extras...

There are things I want that will make my car mine, but the drive...addicted.
