I wish it was, would make getting in and out of these things a hell of alot easier. Anyone remember maserati circa 1990? now THAT was quality control failure.

I absolutely love the car, haven't had any issues, and think about driving it every minute.

You guys are nuts. I have no regrets. Here are what REAL first year problems are:

2005/2006 Ford Mustangs (I owned both years):

(1) Large "thunk" in the GT when you turn all the way right or left--fixed by putting an 'extender' on your front springs. Fixed by Ford under a TSB.

(2) Bad batch of fuel pumps in the GT--again if yours failed under warranty it was replaced, if not (like with me) a nice 600 dollar repair.

(3) 2005/2006 Mustangs had very thin gas cap to tank pipes. In places of the country where you had high speed gas pumps the back pressure would shut off the gas pump. You could only fill up your Mustang by holding the gas pump handle sideways or upside down!! If you wanted this fixed, Ford would replace your entire gas tank. This problem still wasn't fixed in March of 2006 when I bought a v6 mustang. It had the same gas tank problem as my 2005 GT.

(4) I had a bad fuel pump in my 2006 stang--replaced under warranty.

(5) The 2005-2007 Mustang instrument cluster had sub standard stepper motors that began to fail around 80,000 miles. The problem was that Ford would replace your instrument cluster if a replacement instrument cluster became available. So I said to my dealer,'So when will a replacement cluster become available?" The Dealer:"Oh, sometimes it can take a year!" So wow! I'll have no speedometer for a year? Luckily I found an engineer on the web that replaced the stepper motors for $250.00 bucks on 2005-2007 Mustangs.

Whew! I loved my Mustangs, but my wife has a 2011 Outback with already 45,000 miles on it and not one single problem!

No regrets here and not a single issue. If I do have a problem I'll take it to the dealer, it has a warranty for a reason.

Honestly though most of the complaints seem to be nitpicking and not really much of a real issue. Look at how many "grinding gears" and manual transmission issue threads are started by people who have never driven stick before they bought this car!

The one complaint I have is that my girlfriend can't seem to learn to close the door without touching the window. Fingerprints everywhere!
Lol all you need to do I tell her "window trim" everytime you both get out of the car.

I have an early production BRZ so I've been to the dealership at least ten times since I bought the car for random fixes. Doesn't make me love the car any less. Not one bit. Also helps having a good dealership.

I've driven a 240sx, s2000, and currently drive an MR2.. I love this car so much on "paper" I'm currently in the process of buying an FR-S blind, without ever having driven one yet (2 dealers I visited were reluctant to let me test drive). If it drives anywhere as well as the 3 cars I just mentioned, and rattles LESS than the MR2 I drive now (which I'm sure it does), I won't have any regrets.

The FR-S is like a blind date that I'm positive will work out for me.
