I know this isn't really helpful but compared to my ACE a350 header the Kpower one feels like a ton of bricks.

Word from Kpower on the fuel pump relay has come in:

Quote:
Thanks for your patience as we catch up from the crazy holiday weekend. We will confirm this tomorrow, but we believe the issue is that a change was made from our V2 or V3 board, and a V3 board is required to make this relay work. Our employee who was handling this project left the company and moved out of state right after the V3 boards became available, and proper documentation on this change is lacking.

Assuming this is the case, we'll offer anyone with an older board a replacement at our cost so we can wrap it all up. We'll be in touch as soon as we have final confirmation. Thanks for your patience!

So what you are saying is I might need to pay for the cost of a new board (at cost to Kpower) and for the relay, and I need to pull the board out now. All this, so I can park the car for a while on accessory mode without it dying on me? Ugh. I don't know that the cost or time is worth it.

I might end up doing the wire patch to the board like RedReplicant. At this point I don't feel like pulling the board again, but after needing a trickle charger to tune last week I want the fix. I may wait to see what they consider "cost" on the board. Something tells me it's not going to be as cheap as their overpriced relay kit though.

I would guess it'll be $100 or so.

I initially sent them a summary email of the issue after I tried to call and explain but I haven't heard anything back after sending a picture of the jumper and prime working on Sunday. Oh well
Curious if the sensor ground was incorporated in a harness update or not, people wouldn't know there was an issue unless they were datalogging in Haltech or logging on the Haltech CANBUS rather than the chassis CANBUS (which doesn't expose oil temp).

On another note, I went to pull my TB to test fit another adapter last night. I'd marked my TB bolts with the assumption that they'd back out before breaking, which none of them had done so far. Put the slightest pressure on one to remove it and it broke, so I am glad I found that now rather than it actually coming apart this weekend. Bolt size for BRZ TB is M6x1.0 60mm, bolt size for KPower adapter + Bosch TB is M6x1.0 45mm.

Turned out that the spares I bought won't work due to the head shape, so I have some ordered from two places in hopes that I get some before this weekend. Finding actual grade 10.7 or 12.9 is a pain, I'm going to be preemptively swapping them every 4 or 5 events from now on.

Easiest way to remove them is to take the adapter off the car, drill through the broken bolt with a smaller bit, then try to drill through it again with a slightly bigger bit. It'll drive the broken piece out the back of the adapter.

Question What aftermarket engine mounts work?

Does anyone know if the Cusco engine mounts work with the kit? I remember reading somewhere that certain engine mounts don't mate up with the kpower brackets.

No, those mounts go directly into a FA20. We use WRX style that are single pin on the bottom, two pin on the top.

I have IAG Street mounts in a box here that look similar to the Cusco ones and would work.

Thanks, I missed that! I have an old pare of STi group N mounts laying around somewhere that will do the trick then.

Final word from Kpower.

Quote:
I wanted to get back to you on this before the weekend. We've confirmed that the issue is that a V3 board is needed with the relay. We've updated our website to reflect this too.

We can either mod your current board or sell you a replacement at cost ($75). Just let me know and we can take care of it. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding as we dug into the issue. Have a great weekend!

I'm reluctant to mod my board because it's a v1 and I'm not sure what all the v3 received update wise other than the added fuel pump relay circuit. Probably just order the v3 and be able to swap out without much hassle. Other than removing half the damn dash again...

I don't know what other changes were made to the board, but I don't know if the tune from Kpower was also altered to reflect these changes, but I don't want to chance installing a new board and having my tune not work or needing to be modified. I also don't know if it is worth it for me. I would like this feature, but I don't think it is worth the time and money at this point. If it works for you then maybe I'll think differently.

I suppose a kill switch would do the same thing, but it just wouldn't be automatic.

The tune shouldn't be problematic as it's easy to set up if not already done. It was included in the base map and is a common setting for the Haltech.

I have more tuning coming up with the head and cams swap it's going to get installed sooner than later. I'll keep you posted on it.

What I'm saying is that they are on V3 of the jumper board, and I don't know if the Haltech ECU was loaded with a certain version of the base tune that complimented that wiring layout such that V3 of the jumper board goes with V3 of some base tune. I'm on V1 of the jumper board and V1 of the base tune, and if I switch to V3 of the jumperboard, will my V1 tune work or will it need to be changed? I don't know. Maybe the jumper board changes just uses different power or ground sources, so it won't matter, except for this fuel pump issue. I just don't want to roll the dice. I'll let someone else be the guinea pig.
