Got the call from my dealer earlier this week with a VIN, and he just updated me today that it's on the way to the dealer. Original order estimate of October, update beginning of this week had estimate for end of October, now estimated to arrive 10/22.
Can't say when the order was originally placed, my sales guy told me when someone cancelled on their order and I took it over back in August.

Congrats! Drive it in good health. It's a wonderful car

I ordered mine in January, and still waiting!
Their computer shows January 2023, let's see if it's accurate. I think so far, I'm the one that waiting the longest. I don't know anyone that ordered and had to wait longer.

My brother ordered one at the same dealer, on the same day, and he got his in April, 3 months later. I have no idea why there is so much discrepancy. I assume it has to do with the allocation that the dealer gets.

Dang so does that mean you tried to order a MY2022 in January and now it rolled over to MY2023?!

Subaru isn't supposed to work on "allocation". If you order the car then thats what you're supposed to get. If it doesn't come in I say go to a different dealership because that doesnt sound right.

I think that the difference (which I learned after I ordered), is that some dealers order through Subaru of America, and others (like mine) deal with a distributor. It seems like the ones that are ordered from SOA have so much better communication and tracking. The only thing I got was a dealer specific order#. Up until a month or two ago, they had no idea when I would see my car, but then it got updated with a Jan '23 delivery date. So basically a full year wait!!!!
I don't really mind because it's not a car that I need, it's a car that I want. Also, I'm hoping that they fix the RTV issue by then.

That's wild. Something seems weird there.

The DAY I ordered my car, like on my paperwork, I was given an estimated delivery of Aug/Sept, and I picked the car up September 3rd.

Yep, that's the way it works if the dealer orders straight from SOA. I wish I knew that before I ordered the car. A small percentage of dealers go through distributors, and of course that was my crappy luck. I really like my dealership, but I would have preferred a more transparent/quicker order process.

My sales guy told me they could order as many US built cars as they wanted. They get only so many slots every 2 weeks for Japan built cars. BRZs have a small dealer cut compared to say a WRX. So guess what model does not get ordered for "Dealer Stock". Some dealers will not give up a Japan build slot for a low profit BRZ.

Mildly concerned because I'm also dealing with a dealership in your region.

Timeline:
ordered 5/6. Initial estimated to arrive in Sept, and got delayed to Oct. Arrived 10/23. Picked up last friday 10/28.

Living in PNW, fortunately I was able to take it out for a drive in the last non-rainy-and-warm day (10/29) this year. Went for a 200+ mile trip to mountain area with beautiful scenery highway. It's still braking in so I didn't pushed it further after 4k rpm, which is painful as it means I cannot pass slow vehicles (guess not much american drivers are aware that slow traffic should keep right or use turn out to let people pass, seems I only got 5-10 mins blocker free cruising time). Even if there's some decent folks intentionally slows down on the right at passing zone, I still need to make it to 4.5k for a safe pass. Had to be very careful at mountain passes where the road is wet due to melting snow and temperature below 45F. Guess this is not a good season to enjoy.

Just to add info here, I placed my 2023 Limited 6MT order on June 18 of this year and suddenly the car showed up at the dealer on Oct. 14. Even the dealer was surprised, they only got 24 hours notice. Build date in the doorjamb shows 9/22, so September.

Delivery got delayed to December... But I have a VIN? When should I expect to see a registered history for the vehicle? I've been checking carfax's free checker to see when it shows up.
NOTE: I don't have a VON because the northeast US has a separate distributor that doesn't use SOA
