I am just the opposite, always go with the OEM option first. Know it cost more but can not stand an off fastener.

This is what I did for my rebuild. $230 worth of fasteners was far better than "shit, where'd that solo cup full of LF bolts go.."

Waiting for shims to finish the engine, valve lash is out, not by a ton but by enough that most need a size or two up to hit nominal spec, 3-4 are actually out of spec. Crank bearing #3 had some light damage so the rod was the big one, block should be good to be put back together and kept as a spare, might need a new crank though.
As a note, d4-s does not eliminate buildup on the intake valves, a few were pretty grimy after 117k miles, cleaned up the buildup on the combustion chamber as well. Some flashing on the intake tells me a diy port job would yield gains, but not worth the effort for the average Joe (or those competing where the rules prohibit it). Also lapped the valves because there was some pitting and the service manual recommended it. |

That's really neat. I like the "exposed simple knob" look, but I also can't get out of 80s and 90s car interiors

First snow day with the car. Didn't have space to store the car or get another, so she's on daily duty for this winter. In ~4" of Calgary slush the car did great with the 215 Kumho Wi31's, no complaints or loss of traction that wasn't self inflicted
