Interesting with the weight, only driven a M2C briefly and it felt heavy, apparently they eat tyres at track days like theres no tomorrow due to that and the power., Even more weight and power was not what i felt it needed the most, but im not in charge of bmw either

If BMW built a factory version of this I would sell everything I own and live out of a tent. https://www.motortrend.com/features/...-135i-v8-swap/

Thought the cayman was like 3200-3300. Either way, wasn't thrilled with it either.

It did everything well, it just felt very sanitized. I dunno how to put it. It was like watching an adult play sports against kids, or the 10 who can't hold a conversation without showing you something on social media. I was expecting more character out of it.

I saw a 993 today. I thought the 996 was small compared to the modern 911's; the 993 was looking diminutive in comparison, especially next to the modern cars and SUVs. It made my 86 look big. Even a 996 makes the 86 look big, but this was next level. I don't know why there is always a 6 foot tall 200lb middle aged man cramming himself into one of these. These things are Miata sized and makes me want something smaller than a 86 or Cayman like a RF Miata like a classic, true sports coupe that hugged a driver. It is painful how big and heavy these cars keep getting. I'll Toro a Cayman and maybe it'll be something that scratches off the list if I agree with you and loathe the long gearing. And then there was will be one. The RF Miata is an unnecessary convertible for someone who doesn't use a convertible, necessarily introducing the chance of leaks, weight and complexity, so that is off the list. Toyota needs to hurry up with a GR MR2 with the G16E-GTS already. They can take my money right now if it was sub-2600lbs and Miata sized with 300hp.

And depending on equipment the weight difference between the previous M2C and M4C is between 0 and 20kg, thats not great for a car that is much smaller, the supra around 100kg lighter than the M2C. The new M4C is another 100-120kg heavier, hefty things..

^^^The 996 was a big leap in 911 size, however it was actually lighter than the 993 (model for model). The 997 stayed about the same since it was very similar to the 996. The 991 got significantly larger, and the 992 is another HUGE leap in size. Sickens me, but whatever not like I can afford a 911 anymore.
^Yeah, the M3/4 got expensive (relatively speaking) weight saving measures and the M2 did not. The F80 M3 is actually impressively light given how large the 3 series had gotten by that point. It was significantly lighter than the E92 M3. Sadly it was probably the last time BMW introduced a new model lighter than the previous one. When the M2 came out (last time around) it was just over 3400 lb. When it got the mid-cycle revision (name changed to M2 Competition and it got the M3 engine) it gained 200 lb. Here we are again, and it's officially a fat ass. Porsche 987s and 981s are brilliant. Not sure how anyone would consider them sterile if you're letting the engine wail (unless you drove a 4 banger). They are so exceedingly competent in their handling, however, that there isn't a lot of drama on public roads. The tall gearing sucks but is far from a deal breaker.
