We're using Amsoil Signature Series (full synthetic) right now. I think we may switch to Motul 300V soon though. Not that I don't like the Amsoil, but we've had some trends improve on other applications switching to 300v and want to see if the same thing happens in the FA24 BRZ.

Not being rude but this is why so many cars don't come with oil temp or pressure gauges.

Totally agreed; I wasn't too worried about that either but just wanted to get a feel for if my temps were outliers or not. Seems not!

And you're definitely right. Sometimes more information is not better (if it makes the noobs like me freak out).

I went through the same thing with the oil temp gauge on my Focus ST. Saw it creep up past halfway for the first time and was like "oh shit, that's not normal". Turns out- it was

The oil cooler thermostat on my 135i didn't even OPEN until 235.

I pay much more attention to the temps when they are cold, rather than hot. Don't want to push the car too hard until the engine is properly warmed up.

Oh yeah for sure. The thought of an Italian tune-up at startup with cold oil makes me wince.

The car has seen all kinds of activities: commuting, long hauls, city traffic jam in peak summer temps, auto-x, drag racing, hill climbs, dyno pulls, etc. Not everything, but a good bit of stuff.

Highest temperature read in-car: ~240°. My previous statements of the OEM sensor reading artificially high by ~20° still seem to be holding true.
