I’m so over remodeling houses. Probably won’t be “done” till next spring but at least I should finally be in it this month.

Yeah. I took the wall out between the kitchen and living room. I have an island going in the kitchen too but I wanted to get the floor down to decide where I wanted it since I can just mark out and cut the laminate.

i haven't started on my kitchen specifically because i know how much work it is!

most cabinet guys i know just mount the island over the laminate. for better or worse

Over the laminate is no good. Kinda defeats the purpose of a floating floor system. Guess that is not really their problem if the floor is in before they get to put in the cabinets.
