Euros still get it right…. The paint on my 10 year old golf, although considered shitty, has held up better than any Subaru, Toyota and Honda paint I’ve experienced in the past.

It would on a 10+ year old car. They changed the environmental laws in late 2012. All manufacturers no matter where had to use low VOC paints. This degraded the quality because the paints lost their elasticity so became harder and easier to scratch and chip. No, not softer like so many think.
The plants that invested in new application equipment tend to have better quality now but there is no one company that is better overall.
