Read it with his voice in my head. My dad and I both loved him. Good times.

He used to come over to our house every week to watch Hogan's Heros. He loved that show and laughed so hard. Even though it was over 50 years ago I still recall his stories and critiques of the show as if it was just last week. You would think he would ridicule it for it's inaccuracies but it was actually the total opposite he said that although over the top much of it was very realistic. Here are the points I remember: The set was bang on perfect both in and outside. He said it could have been made in the real thing. Food although not perfect was much better than most POW camps. The POW 0fficers were "paid" and even got to buy supplies and things like beer on occasion. The Luft Stalags were run directly by the Luftwaffe. Most of the commanding officers were WW1 flyers (just like Klink) and still carried much of the "Kinghts of the Air" chivalry and honour attitude. They were usually too old, injured or just not ambitious enough for active duty so were given positions in the camps. The junior officers were almost always ones that had washed out of pilot training. The enlisted were either very old (WW1 vets again, or very young poorly trained recruits not fit for frontline service. As none of the personnel were exactly cream of the crop there were very, very, few actual Nazis and most hated them. The fear that Klink always showed when he heard the Gestapo were coming was exactly what they felt. If the commander knew they were coming the would tell the POWs to be on their best behaviour and seem to be downtrodden. They were known to actually hide POWs that may have been hauled away for interrogation. He said that Shultz was EXACTLY like many of the guards. They didn't want any hassles and as long as you behaved turned a blind eye to many things such as home made radios and underground newspaper presses. They did at least attempt to prevent escapes though since too many would draw in the Gestapo. Shultz' fear of being sent to the Eastern Front was something they really did worry about. I am sure there was more that he talked about since his stories could go on well after the show was over but this is what I remember. You can tell he was British by probably the only Vauxhall in Canada at the time parked in his driveway.

My cousin and his wife are not car people and he is asking advice on a car for his wife to drive when she doesn't have the kids. He is thinking M4 or Cayman. Despite him asking me, and a dozen texts back and forth, I am pretty sure he is ordering an M4. I don't even think he could get either car in his garage, let alone understand what a 5'1" woman who is not a car person driving a 500hp rear wheel drive sports car is going to be like. I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive mistake

What I love most about Hogan's Hero's is all the Germans were played by jews. Even the dog guy.

Is he really buying for his wife, or is he buying what he thinks he wants? Sounds like he has some cash to burn. Smack him up a bit.

Yes, it came! Gives me time to break-in before wearing it for the next game.

100% buying what he wants. She’s going to hate it and he’s going to end up selling it in the end. Been trying to steer him towards more reasonable sporty car that’s a bit more luxury oriented. I don’t think he understands how fast a 300hp car is on the street let alone one with 500hp.

...or how expensive it is to drive. Does he have that kind of pissing-away money? He needs to take his wife on some test drives.

Yeah, he’s got lots of money to burn. He works for his dad who is very wealthy on top of owning a few dozen rentals himself.

Oh well. Just be there to drive it a couple times before either of them kills it or themselves. Best you can hope is for the I-told-you-so opportunity.
