I agree with the play. By the time a typical passenger car starts popping 420, likely the rest of it's beaten to shreds. That, or it's owned by an "enthusiast."

Ontario did not start smog checks until 1999. Took about two years but all the wrecks on the road eventually disappeared. It was obvious that cars that failed smog were also the ones with other, often serious, safety issues.
I know I had far more than my share of cars that should NOT have been on the road for any reason and would have got pulled.
We went about 20 years with very, very, very few scary looking vehicles around. Well other than the ones that came up from Michigan at any rate.
They dropped the smog checks in 2019 and just the other day I realized that unsafe as hell junkers are rapidly making a reappearance. It is only taking about as long for them to show up as it took for them to go away.

I always felt that smogging newish cars was a waste of time, resources and money but there needs to be SOME for of control over what is operated on the roads. Another year it will be like driving through Detroit dodging car parts and broken down crap.

Emissions tests did not seem to have that effect around Baltimore in my experience.

Today I learned that if I can start a side business and endure constant mental stress, I can start walking/jogging and endure future physical stress to combat the mental stress. Day 1 of walking/jogging. Month 13 of side business.

Today I learned that in the Chuukese language, the sound of the letter N is formed differently in English. It is very similar to our L. Our N and L sounds put our tongues in nearly the same place, but one is an aveolar sound, and the other an approximant. So when Chuuk people write names or words in the Latin alphabet, they might pick an L or an N. How's that for random.
