I don't see the gen2 being much different though the power it is putting down now is pretty good. I'd be happy with stock gen2 number out of the FA20. I mainly just want more reliability.

That said, I'm the type of person that won't spend money on something that isn't broken. A quiet exhaust is "broken" to me, so I'll probably put a louder one on to "fix it". Simple bolt-ons for a naturally aspirated car at best MIGHT make throttle response feel more responsive, but as far as NA HP gains, for all practical purposes it's probably not worth it dollar wise if you want HP.

Forced induction on the other hand is a totally different flavor, where you WILL (should) tune the HP to your liking.

So take your potty talk to the Honda forums if you can't handle constructive discussions

I'm certain there are many NA Gen 1 cars out there that are just as quick as a Gen 2.

There shouldn't as the Gen2 is measuring 10-15whp more than bolt-on E85 Gen1s. But, that 10-15whp is in the noise so they are just as quick as it was explained here. A 14.3s@98mph 1/4mi is basically 14.0s@100mph, so it checks out. Makes me feel better.

Okay but damn close. Now, once the ecu is cracked in the new car and the mods begin it's going to be different. Still, the older Gen is no slouch IMO.

Fair enough but sometimes "being realistic" isn't as much fun. People are free to spend their money how they see fit and I appreciate those who take it to the maximum. That's how we learn. If someone wants to strip the car to save every ounce, all the power to them.

People are already trying to modify the Gen 2. Most people that mod the car won't be keeping stock tires.

Well, regardless, it's a strange comment to make regarding a mod that is free. And he appears to be refuting an argument that nobody is making - i.e., nobody has claimed that removing the charcoal filter "transforms" the car in any significant way.

But his other point regarding potential gains on an NA engine shows a fundamental lack of experience and/or familiarity with the Gen 1 platform. Trying to tell me the gains I got for the $1250 I spent on headers/OFT/e85 on the Gen1 platform are nothing more than "placebo" and that I should have spent the money on tires is just plain dumb.

Are tires a good mod? It depends on what you want from the car but they do nothing to smooth out the torque curve and/or add hp which the headers/oft/e85 did (in a very noticeable and easily quantifiable way) on the Gen1. It remains to be seen what similar mods will add to a Gen 2, but I am hopeful they will be similar from a percentage-wise standpoint. Of course, the torque curve problem doesn't exist on the Gen 2 (at least, not as acutely), but a tune/headers/e85 will still likely net some very noticeable/quantifiable improvements.

Headers, an OFT, and E85 are not the same as removing a charcoal filter from the stock airbox. Don't act like these are the same. The charcoal filter by itself won't make a lick of difference. Believing otherwise is, as you say, just plain dumb We didn't change threads did we?
