Why will it weep? Kumho makes great tires (I've used them on several cars), they will has at least as good dry/wet traction as the OEM tires or maybe even better and more than adequate snow traction for me with how well roads are normally cleared up here, and the 95% of the winter where I'm driving and there isn't snow on the ground i'm not dealing with squishy sidewalls of snow tires.

I have some Nokians in a 225/50/17, with a bunch of tread left. Do you think I'll have any fitment issues on the car on the stock rims and stock rideheight? How about after a 1" drop?

When it drops below 40, winter tires are worlds better than even all-seasons.

It's so much nicer to have tires designed for the conditions you're driving in than using a tire that makes the best compromise. And having two sets will halve the wear on each.

Pick up a set of Hankook I*Cepts (or Ice Bears if you can find them) and put them on the stock rims. Then save up and get a nice set of rims and tires for the summer. A set of Sparco Assettos in 17x7.5 are $145 each and under 19lbs, and you can get stock-sized Continental ExtremeContact DW tires for $127 each.

Storing wheels isn't that bad. If you don't have a garage, they stack nicely in a corner somewhere, or slide under a bed. You can even get creative; three wheels, a square board, and a table cloth make a nice night stand.

I've just found that all-seasons tend to do nothing well because they try to do everything.

Those are over 1" taller than stock. They might fit under a mild drop, but you're lifting the car about 5/8" and at 60mph on the highway, you'll be going 3mph faster than your speedometer says.

Meh, I learned to drive on RWD V8 cars with all season tires and with a good set of all seasons I've never felt like I was having issues controlling my car, the only vehicle I ever put snow tires on my my Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9, lowered RWD sports pickup truck, worst thing you can have in the snow. And a since the BRZ comes with crappy summer tires a set of good all seasons will be just as good in the dry conditions. It's the same reason I never get AWD even though it was an option on my old Dodge Magnum, the maybe 10-12 hours total a year I'm actually driving on a road with any kind of snow currently on it is not worth the 2MPG fuel economy hit the rest of the year.

I don't really want after market rims anyways, I actually really like the factory rims the BRZ comes with, nice subtle design and the dark grey powder coat is nice so they don't show brake dust.

I don't have a garage to store tires, and being a girl under my bed and all my closets are filled with cloths, so yeah, no spot to put a stack of tires :p And definitely wouldn't want my bedroom smelling like tires when I have someone over if they were under my bed, lol! Though they probably wouldn't even fit there since I have a low to the ground slat bed.

  1. All-Seasons are shit. You don't get tires remounted and balanced every season, you make a one-time investment into another set of wheels. Now, if you're choosy you can get a cheap alloy setup; if you're tight on money get 16" steelies with 16" tires for great savings in both tires and wheels.
  2. Buy a set of TireRack tire totes, or any other brand of your choosing, and enjoy storing wheels wherever the hell you want without getting crap on it.
  3. All-Seasons suck.

In fact 205/60r16 are 652.27mm in overall diameter compared to 625.09mm for the stock 215/45r17 over 4% diameter difference a bit too much for me and my speedometer. 205/55r16 is actually 631.69mm so only 1% difference.
Better choice!
