what tires will you be using this winter for snow?
 

As the title states, what tires will you be using this winter for snow? Please refrain from the, "you're gonna drive it in winter" or "this is not a winter car" comments. As i really do need to start prepping for winter.

I've driven on bridgestone blizzaks and michelin alpin pa2's.

Blizzaks: Very good in snow, not so much for asphalt (after snow's been cleared or before snow comes)

Pa2's: Better for driving on asphalt (a little more grip, ride comfort and less noise), but noticeably not as good in the snow as the blizzaks, altough still good.

EDIT: If the blizzaks got a 10 for snow, the pa2's would get an 8.5-9

I had blizzaks till my tires dry rotted and was able to get the PA2's for cheap. My previous car had the same/compatible tire size, so I will use the PA2's. The best thing I can say that helps in the snow, however, is throttle control and being smart about driving in the snow.... Just because you have snow tires, AWD, or 4wd, does not mean snow will have no impact on handling characteristics and grip

I'm still debating about the blizzaks or going with some cheaper arcticforce/kumhos and studding them.

Hankook iPikes or Gislaved NordFrost 5s for me.

I have two options this winter. I will be trying my hankook ipike w409's i used on my wrx last year, and i also have a brand new set of blizzak ws-70's that i will try as well. I have had great success with the 409's in the for the past 3 winters (2 sets on two different cars). We will see how this winter goes however, we might not even dive the BRZ in the snow.

I'm going to make an attempt with Blizzak WS60s. They work amazingly on the wrx but we'll see.

If the winter wins out over that you can't beat nokian hakkapeliittas!

I got some Blizzak LM-22s with abou 80% of their tread left off Craigslist for dirt cheap. I'll be mounting them on an extra set Drag DR-34's I had left over from my last car. They're a little beat up but who car's it's winter.

Dunlop WS3D. We don't deal with much, if any, ice and there's no reason to be out when it snows more than 9" which is rare anyway. They're a good tire for my area because when it gets wet, the snow here isn't around nearly as long the slush is.

Gislaved Nordfrost 5 205-55-16

Winter sport 3d. Then putting in garage for winter

Correct me if im wrong but I think the 205/60/R16 are a hair cheaper AND offer more ground clearance (.4 inches or so?) :thumbsup:

Surprisingly the Hancook iPikes were the cheapest winter tires I could buy last year... They had amazing grip in the snow and only cost $55 per tire.

I think I'll go to Canadian Tire again and see what is the cheapest they can get for me.

hmmmm looks like i'm going to try out the iPikes...they seem to be the best option from a price/performance standpoint.
