Yep, Those suckers should be squealing pretty much all the time. I definitely think you were on the right marks which is awesome for your third autocross, just dial up the aggression and you'll be doing really well.

I went back and looked at some of my vids from SSC on the 615's. They weren't as loud or as constant as I recall, but definitely some noise.

Keep in mind that is a 225 on an 8" and you can get a little over 3 degrees camber in SSC. |

For some reference I run 34F and 36R on my RT660. Not the same tire, but should be in the same ballpark. At ZMax (sealed pavement) I've always dropped 2-3 psi from other sites since it uses tire much less.

I'm glad to see the tire pressure discussion.
So far, the weather has been horrible for our events to dial things in correctly. First event, temps were around 35~40F and lots of wind, so getting any heat in the tires was nearly impossible. Second event was canceled due to constant lightening and hail. Third event saw torrential rain...again really hard to get anything warmed up. The OEM Pilot Sports, in my terrible conditions, seem to like running at 35psi. I'm sure I'll need to lower my starting temps if we ever get a warm event. In some good news, the Pilot Sport 4's seem to do quite well in wet conditions up to about .25" of standing water on the course. Anything deeper than that and they will hydroplane quite nicely...and put you into a spectacular spin. |

It seems I see more GR 86's than BRZ's in DS, both locally and nationally. Is there a perceived/real advantage to the Toyota? I would expect the opposite, since it was so much easier to order a Subaru in our area than a Toyota.
The Toyota's have always had the reputation for being more tail happy, but I've never had any issues getting BRZ's to rotate (this is my third one). |

I feel like I'm getting close on car setup now and am down to fine tuning what I can on my 2022. Have Konis (front and rear w/legal perch), Karcepts bar on the 2nd softest hole, crash bolts, and am now playing with alignment. Ran an event on concrete that's similar to Lincoln's surface and we struggled with not being able to get the rear to rotate well, particularly on-throttle. Best the car felt was full rebound on the rear and minimum rebound up front, but it still wasn't where we'd really like. We could get the rear to move on lift but as soon as you're on the gas the rear would plant and it became way too easy to get into an understeer situation. Some of that is driver since we're both used to higher power RWD cars where throttle steering is easy but we think would should be able to get a least a bit of rotation on corner exit and it's just not there. On the positive side, the car was amazing on fast transitions and we had a ton of confidence with it in slaloms, offsets, etc.
Currently have just a smidge of toe in on the rear (~1/16" measured with plates) - going to back that out to zero, possibly even a touch of toe out, and and thinking about moving the front sway to the softest setting. Open to other ideas on adjustments besides just driving better Other than setup I think we're going to need to learn to just be more patient on corner entry to work around the understeer issue and take advantage of being able to get 100% on the throttle much earlier than I could in past cars. Edit: My codriver's run from day 2 gives some really good examples of the conditions where the car would rotate vs plow. My aggression was lacking that day so my own video isn't really helpful. Definitely a regional thing, I've seen many more BRZs because you could order them. Toyota seems to have brought 95% automatics to the NE US and when there are manuals they're massively marked up.
