I don't see why they wouldn't bring convertibles.
It would fill the s2000 void, compete against the MX-5 and steal Z4/Boxter sales. I think Subaru will bring the Turbo even if Scion doesn't |

Personally, I would much rather see this type of car with a supercharger. It retains the properties of an NA, except with more power everywhere.
Let's face it: when compared to NA, turbo throttle response is lacking-- I don't care how small the turbo is. |

I don't know why people who already purchased are hating the turbo concept... What if some of us here just want to drive in a straight line and just drag race? Turbo lag, balance -- all those excuses. A really balanced car should also be fast in straight line. No, a 15 second car is not fast enough for some people. Everyone has their own need. |

I think in this thread, for the most part, it's pretty obvious who has an FR-S or order and who doesn't

i just think this thread is full of people in denial. turbo lag, are we kidding here? how many of you complaining about turbo lag have ever even driven a turbo car, much less owned one. the boost threshold on my 400whp evo was about 3400 rpm and not a single fuck was given in regard to turbo lag...

Not really putting much faith in that article... I'll believe it when they announce it. It took them a few years to bring the STi to the US but eventually they did, and it's not a cheap car. I don't think price has anything to do with it.

Assuming a turbocharged FR-S/BRZ is executed that well, I'd probably go for it, but I certainly understand those afraid of upsetting the current car's harmonious feel. More power with NA would be ideal. And more choice is always good, so I say bring on the FI and convertible. |

but we, as Americans, will be so mad that turbo version costs so much more, lol... WRX and STi are about $8k (give or take the different options)... but if the BRZ was $8k difference, A LOT of people will whine. |

I don't believe for a second that a FI model won't be available here in the USA. To many people are wanting it.

I for one am glad to not have a convertible version available. I think it preserves the purist quality of this car. Unlike almost every other sports car out there, the FR-S doesn't scream out that you are rich or self-indulgent. It says one thing - brilliantly clear - that the owner is a person who cares about the art of driving.
