There's no freaking way the trunk of an 86 is only 6.6 cubic feet. That has to be a typo.

Like, I bet you could still fit four wheels and a jack in a Supra, they'd just be stacked on top of one another instead of side by side.
I think the rear seats help alot.
Here's a Supra and LC500 (which has a tinier 5 cubic foot trunk but also has backseats that can be used)

I think the LC can give you an idea of how you can use the space in an 86 vs a Supra...

The Supra's trunk shape is weird (i think the 10 cubic feet is under the cover), and it doesnt seem to gain a whole lot from the openness of the hatch. and you're right up against hte seats already.

It's 6.9 cubic feet, but that's with the seat up.

https://www.caranddriver.com/scion/fr-s/specs

As an example, with the seat down, this fit without rising above above the lower level of the rear window. Pretty sure that's more than 7 cubic feet of stuff.

Even with the seats up, I think the FRS has pretty usable cargo space. I guess I'll just have to find a Supra to put some bags in. LOL

Just travelled 3500km in our 86 with my daughter in the back and 2 months worth of stuff in the boot, including her bike. It was tight, but I’d say the 86 boot is pretty impressive.

I have both. FRS/86 has more space if you count the seats down.

I highly doubt I can even fit my FRS' 17x9s in the trunk of the Supra, much less actual Supra wheels which are like 19x9 & 19x10. The bar would probably have to come off. And it'd be so tight that I'd be scared the wheels would hit the glass when you go over a bump.
The only way I could see it is if you put one wheel on the passenger seat.

Ah, not what I wanted to hear, but assumed would be the case.

Cool that Toyota is finally giving it an MT option. I hope it feels better than the typical rubbery feel of the current BMW manual transmissions.

Open your 86's trunk and keep the seats up. Now remove the bulges on each side so you have a perfect square in the center of the trunk. That is the size of the Supra's. Plenty big for a few hundred dollars in groceries but, you not carrying a bike or set of wheels like the twins can with the seat down.

Autoblog has a BRZ luggage test.
You can now compare it directly with the Supra luggage test now

Not sure I understand this at the end of the article:

Now, what about other sporty cars? Well, this should give you an idea about the Civic Si, the Hyundai Elantra N and the Ford Mustang. They'd all be better than this. So is the Supra, which is still one of my favorite luggage test Tetris jobs to date.
The author clearly states in the Supra article he could not get all the "standard luggage" in the Supra, yet it fits easily in the BRZ in "two seat mode".
