Opting for the N1 system but want to know about headers and tune

My stock frs is my baby, so I got a chance to see an FRS with some upgrades and I really enjoyed it. The kid said he had header + tune + N1 exhaust and I absolutely loved the sound of that N1.

So odds are good I will opt for the n1 system, however, I would like some advice on the header and tune options for this N1 set. Would swapping into a new header + a tune be a wise option if I drop in the N1?

Your thoughts appreciated. Truly, I want extra pickup but I am not out to race or anything like that. My biggest concern is merging on to the highway from a dead stop. I really do need that extra kick into speed for merging, as I do it often and it really stresses me out that my stock frs doesn't pick up as nicely as I want it to.

So for that reason, I am willing to tune + header + N1 if need be, but just wanted some opinions from others who had this setup as well, and what your thoughts on it would be.

You are not going to get much of a kick from just a header and tune. Hardly be noticeable really. If you like the sound just stick to the stock tune and header with the "upgraded" exhaust.

Keep your eye out for a used Phantom ESC.
It sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

Header + tune won't add a ton of power. Car pulls to redline and revs smoother through the entire rev range.
15-20whp up top.
If you have access to E85 add another 10-20whp. You can feel the difference with an E85 tune over stock.

Catback makes noise, entirely optional mod, but worth it if you like and can live with the sound.
Beyond that you need boost or else you are trying to squeeze water from a rock.

The header will help a lot in the midrange, especially if you happen to downshift into the torque dip often. But from a dead stop i don't think it's gonna be a zomgvtec mod.

I appreciate all the help so far. If the option I listed isn't good for a faster pull from stop, what would be the best route for me? I've a $2500 budget. What can/should I do for that.

The Exhaust sound is not particularly important to me, more like a desire. But the extra pull off the full stop zone is definitely needed in my area. I am fine with a turbocharge if that is even in my budget these days, or a tune, or whatever else can be done to improve this.

ty in advance if anyone can help

My car has header and e85 tune with stock catback. It's quiet and will leave a stocker in dust.

What header do you have and how much did your kit cost?

A higher final drive will make the biggest difference on an auto. A 4.88 conversion seems popular and doesn't hurt mpg.
