Thanks anyways. What kills me is that I was so careful when I took it off the first time. I used an extension to make sure that the spacer didn't come out and everything. I was just careless and lazy. Luckily, it was just a PITA and not a much bigger deal.

So here's the question.

When do I give up and replace the compressor? It's starting to get hot here and my car was supposed to have been built last week but for some reason they stopped production last week.

I put my deposit down December 2020. I know the longer I wait the closer I get but who knows it could be months. Do I play to my bad luck and fix it so they can call me the second after I get the AC recharged or do I try to save a few hundred bucks and try to wait?

That is how it works. As soon as I threw in the towel and said, "I give up. When it gets here, it gets here." and five minutes later my phone rings. How much of a hit would you take when selling the car without a working AC? If it were me, I would fix it with the intention of recovering some of the cost later and knowing that it would speed up the delivery of the new car.

$0. I'm trading it. For s couple of reasons. 1. The tax savings makes it a little sweeter than the dollar amount alone. 2. I don't know when the C8 is coming so selling it will either leave me without a car for who knows how long or I won't be able to sell it in time and I'll have to trade it anyways.

It's this thing cars have that keep me from looking like I just swam to my destination.

I'll bet the AC gets a bit more use in Atlanta than in Chicago.

Just a guess.

I did not have AC until 1977 when I bought a Honda Civic Wagon. It was an add-on. I would have to turn it off if I was climbing a long grade and the temp meter climbed. Before that is was the top down or 4 by 55 (windows down and 55 mph). Actually the first AC that I experienced was on a Rambler American driving through the desert southwest. It was one of those vintage evaporative coolers that hung on the side window. It worked. Not something I would try in most other areas of the country. If you suffer a while in the heat, then you will appreciate the AC in the new car all the more. Trading in? Must be one of those deals where the dealer says, "Push it, pull it or tow it... we will pay you top dollar on your trade-in."

No joke. FRS is the first car I've ever owned with working AC.

We are just about even with Chicago my A/C goes on in about May and stay on until October. We most certainly do not have it as hot as Atlanta but feel it more when it is. What may be a normal nice day down there can be a sweltering hell day up here.
There is zero dishonour is wanting to have A/C i car no matter what anybody says.

Here in Atlanta Metro I pretty much use the A/C year round. It gets traded out for heat a bit during the "winter" but I'm guessing there is less than 30 or 40 days scattered over the year where it's not on at least for a little while. Of course, it also blends in with the defrost as well.

There are days I could use the windows, but the road noise is already bad enough with adding the wind buffeting. If I wanted all that noise I would have bought a convertible.

THIS^
I spend an hour and a half every work day on the highway doing between 70 and 80MPH. The last thing in the world I want is the noise, dust and diesel fumes from the bazillion trucks coming in an open window.
A/C and recirculate are my friends!

It's the pollen that's getting me now. I don't normally get bothered by it but the volume is so heavy my eyes get a little irritated and even just a little break the interior is absolutely covered in pollen right now.
