I did, for a few days. Then I plugged it back in. It was too quiet, and I think the speaker noise is less harsh than the sound tube. I think I’ll wait for the aftermarket to provide a volume control solution for the ASC speaker to turn it down a bit, and pair that with a mild exhaust. |

I wonder if the hole is still in the firewall. It'd be funny if people started reinstalling the soundtube.

Both have their positives and negatives , but I believe for most Gen1 owners , getting into a Gen2 isn't of top priority. Plus with gas prices nearing $5 per gallon , getting better MPG is a nice thing in any economic climate (as opposed to the next best alternative)!!

SSC never got a huge following locally (CalClub SoCal), and I'm deciding whether I should wait for a 2nd gen (DS) or wait for 1st gen prices to go down (SSC, but maybe I'll stay in DS for a bit). Either way I have plenty of time to decide. |

Every region will be different, if you do National events though odds are someone will show no matter what you pick. The chassis is popular enough. There’s also SP. |

I wouldn't mind buying either car, 1st gen or 2nd gen. I'm too old to care what people think of how I look, so I don't care what people think of how my car looks as long as I enjoy driving it.
If I were to get another 1st gen 86, it'd have to be a '17 or up for the improvements they made that year. Whatever's cheaper at the time I'm ready to buy is the one I'll get. Right now in this crazy market, a lot of new cars are cheaper than used cars that are a few years old.. I'm in no rush so will see what happens. |
