FWIW, BRZ is the first car I've ever had that never uses oil, even at the track. Typically 5000 miles and 4 track days between changes, and level never drops much if any below full.

It really is a shame the SC3 doesn’t come in a 25” size, I’d like to try them

It sounds like maybe the 100tw market might be the ticket? Ar1, nt01 etc.

Good grm summary:

Totally agree on the SC3. Came from a ZL1 as my last track car and those tires were quite impressive to me....very stable, great wear, and pretty darn good grip for a "street" tire. Much more impressive than Pilot Sport Cup 2's.

I am trying Falken Azenis 660, Ferodo DS 1.11 pads, Wilwood EXP 600+ fluid, and some good old Mobil One 5w-30 for two days at Carolina Motorsports Park here this coming weekend. I have over 100 track weekends on many types of cars and will *try* to just enjoy the time and not beat or break anything setting lap records. Will report back what works and what didn't. A little worried the tires are more "time attack" than endurance and we are doing 30 min sessions in the afternoon with 80+F temps expected. Imagine oil temps might be up there in the 270+ range as well but we will see...

Camaros are amazing track cars - tried to find a ZL1 1LE before i bought the GR86. Different animals and looking forward to flicking the GR around a bit! the SC3s were so good until they got close to being corded then dropped off. was really happy them and Track Day pads matched up.

you didn't mention camber bolts ... that's something else i'm considering but not certain about.. on my SS1LE, i went from stock ( -1*?) up to track spec of -2.8* i definitely noticed an improvement in tire wear but it also caused more inner shoulder wear since i like to also daily drive my cars .. at least destroying an outer shoulder of a tire is easy to monitor at the track so i may skip the camber adjustment.

looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Yes, I should have mentioned camber bolts. Quick, cheap, and easy to install. I did SPC camber bolts in lower holes and moved the smaller (14mm?) bolt to the top hole to get a little additional camber. Just did it last weekend and working all week so for the first time ever I am not able to get it to my alignment guy to adjust the toe and get actual camber numbers before heading to the track in a few days.
Research shows the 86 suspension geometry adds very little toe-in with neg camber gain so hopefully the added toe doesn't ruin the crisp turn-in to corners. Visually appears to be greater than -2 degrees of camber but of course I'll report back when I can actually get it on an alignment rack.

Just to get back to the oil level question. I do not agree that anywhere between the top and bottom marks on the stick is fine. I have a pressure gauge and have monitored it during hard sustained corners. I have never been on track with the level near the bottom mark, but i have seen some pressure drop with it slightly below the top mark.
I now run it about 1/4 inch above the top mark and pressure always looks good. That's my recommendation. Have fun out there.

what are you shooting for on the alignment? i'm a little new to dialing in but i think on my camaro i had:

max camber (-2.8*F and -1.5R on that car)
front toe -0*?
rear toe .15* combined
