I find the hill assist to be way worse in the BRZ than anything else I've had. To the point where I might disable it as it isn't really helping me.
I'd love to know how to disable it "permanently" so it doesn't need to be done every time I start the car.

I don't have the link handy, but there's a Youtube video on how to do it permanently.

It involves holding down the traction control button for 30 sec, starting the car, and then hitting TC again within a couple of seconds. Or something like that.

Does it revert after restart using this process?

EDIT - Apparently this site is afraid of any type of competition?

Maybe its a BMW car to car thing?

My 2017 BMW X1 has it...its been useful to us, had some clear punctures that we were able to remedy.

It doesnt show the actual pressure but it does tell you which tire's pressure is out of whack.

This is the first "modern car gadget" I actually really like. So much better to have the millions of non-enthusiast cars driving around on properly inflated tires and for myself it's nice to have a warning as soon as pressure drops, instead of trying to feel if one of the low profile, stiff sidewall rear tires on a light car got a puncture while driving straight on an interstate. It's hard to tell for sure and probably took me a couple miles the one time it happened.

Thank you! I was just messing around with it yesterday and discovered where all those settings were

GSI = Gear Shift Indicator, right?

Has anyone noticed how this car does not slow down much when gearing down?
I love to slow down by gearing down, but man this car's engine freely revs out. All my other manual cars would slow down quite a bit when I gear down, but the BRZ says no problem. The engine is perfectly happy running high RPM without much resistance. Yes, it does slow down some, but my G37 was 1000# more and it acted like I applied the brakes when downshifting. I am not complaining. I will just have to get used to the new normal.

It's probably not cutting fuel*. My 2012 Mazda decides on its own when to cut fuel and when to inject the same GPH (gallons per hour) as it does at idle. When fuel is cut you feel engine braking. When .24gph is injected it feels free coasting. Really annoying. If I cared about that car more I'd have had that behavior tuned out. If this car does anything weird like that I'll be looking for a tune asap.

*You can tell by using a Scanguage II or similar.

Some of the smaller things I first noticed comming from OG first gen (and not owning another modern car recently) are the more useful cruise control and navigation integration.

Like how your left side of the in dash display will give you a street turn info graphic with distance when you are getting close to your next turn - I find it pretty handy as its much closer to your immediate vision.

Also I liked the little cruise control set speed indicator they have nestled just above that portion of the dash. No more messing about trying to work out what cruise speed I had set it to!

I feel like this is probably all modern cars these days, but thought its worth mentioning.

Those may be Australian market specific options.

I'll have to check on the cruise control speed showing, but our US cars don't have integrated navigation, only Android Auto. We miss out on the street view on the left side of the dash display.

Learned over the weekend that you can't set the cruise control any higher than 90 MPH which is mildly annoying. I leave near TX 130 which is a toll road with long sections of an 85 MPH speed limit where traffic is routinely moving quite a bit faster in the 95-100 MPH range.
