Brake Pad Thickness - Stock vs AP Racing vs PP Brembo
Trying to figure out the pad thickness on the stock and PP brembo brakes compared to AP Racing. I know AP Racing's CP8350 caliper runs 20mm thick pads (including the backing plate) and 15mm? without backing plate. Stock I believe is 10mm without backing plate. Can anyone confirm the AP Racing and stock w/o backing plate? And any idea what the PP runs on thickness?
Thanks! |

I think stock are 18mm with a 6mm backing plate
PP Brembo are ~15mm with a 5mm backing plate Carbotech matched the numbers above for the stock. For the Brembo, Cobalt says 15.3, but the PFC pads I get measure about 14.8 with a 5mm backing plate. Gray is roughly the AP pad shape. : Area/volume numbers are my estimates and may not be correct - the rest is from drawings from Cobalt Frictions website. CSG front pads for the PP calipers have CSG.1001.16.xx part numbers.
I haven't measured the total thickness specifically, but I believe it's 16 mm ![]() I measured the pad material however, and it was 10–11 mm, depending on the model and the batch. The 11 mm C1's were a bit challenging to squeeze into the caliper, there was almost no wiggle room left. |

Interestingly we have 3 different answers now! W/o backing plate for PP: 14mm, ~15mm, and 10-11mm.
I'm surprised these measurements aren't relatively well known, since it would help justify, or not, the purchase of BBK or PP or sticking with a base model... Edit: On second looks, 86League is saying ~10mm w/o backing plate. My mistake! Last edited by Dylans47; 02-10-2022 at 05:56 PM. |

They all seem to suggest a ~5 mm backing plate and ~10 mm of pad material. |

See original edit, I was mistaken. Just wondering what stock is now! I would guess 10mm w/o backing plate since it's OEM toyota/subaru too?
