from what I know the rear is made with a lot heavier/stronger material than the front to withstand a rear end accident..but the tow guy said the hood is made of aluminum or plastic which is really easily damagable.

You can get legal representation and claim diminished value. The car is so new that if you play your cards right, they will pay you out on the full value so you can replace it. Keep in mind though, I think you will still have to take care of sales tax etc, so I hope you had gap or a good lawyer.

Good luck with this!
Yes, very good point. It has an aluminum hood. Aftermarket suppliers may not have the expertise to reproduce it correctly. Or may substitute steel.

I have never seen a body shop try to salvage the aluminum hoods. They scrap them the second they bend. I would imagine OEM body panels are all that are available right now though.

So what i'm getting is, either get all factory OEM parts to replace the damages, or get a new car all together. How long will the legal process be? I just want my car back, I dont want to go through too much hassle for all this. If I can get a brand new car of course that is something I would want, but i dont know how long i wanna wait for that

Oh, and this is the point where you find out what kind of insurance you are paying for. I have stayed with notable companies because I see them go to bat for me. The cheap ones love to cut corners where they can.

There may not be the aftermarket parts available yet to fix this.. so that could be a win!

Requested OEM factory parts, and it is already a default because my car has less than 1200 miles! so thats taken care of..but the guy doing the damage report suggests it might be enough damage for a total so who knows I might have to get a new frs. Does anyone know how long the wait is for an frs at the dealership? I got lucky and the guy who ordered his cancelled when i walked in for a test drive...or is the frs readily available now since its been out for a few months? for those who wanted pictures for the rear end:

like i said, the rear isnt bad, the front is what killed the car..

Damm well at least you're alright; here's to hoping the repair process goes smoothly with the OEM parts.
Were you sitting at the light in neutral without having the brakes applied? It looks like the guy behind barely tapped you compared to the front end damage; actually I'm confident the scuffs can be buffed out of the diffuser; it's also interesting how the diffuser took damage & not the actual bumper; that suggests the grill of the 'GMC' that hit you is actually lower than our cars; hella-flush pickup maybe? =d
