91 octane
Anyone tracked/autocrossed with 91 octane yet? I don't have anything higher available and am wondering if it makes sense to toss in a can of octane booster any time I plan on pushing the car. Of course once tuning options are available, I'll just run a 91 octane tune.

I only have access to 91 octane, best I understand the factory tune is setup in specific regions to adjust to whatever is the highest readily available octane in that country. Up here 94 is available but not as easy to find.

Look in the owners manual.
If its like the first gen, somewhere in there it will say use 94, but 91 can be used without any detriment to the engine. Besides 91 is pretty abundant everywhere, 94, not as much. |

I don't trust Husky anymore. The verdict is out on Petro, I have heard good and bad.

I have a map for 91 and 95. 91 on the street and 100 at the track when using the 95 map. If you just have 91 and track it it’s never a bad idea to throw a few gallons of 100 in with the 91

I guess I’m lucky; I can get Esso 93 octane about 5 miles from here. I’ve heard from a reliable source that it’s ethanol-free. The refinery that provides it is another 5 miles past the service station.
If I’m on an extended trip (which is rare), I’ll use 94 octane from Pet-Can. It has ethanol however.

My current go to is Costco though, apparently they use the same refinery as Shell in Toronto so 91 from them also has no ethanol, main reason for going and suffering the long waits...significant price reduction vs. other stations with 91. 30 cent difference is genuinely huge, literally pays for the membership after 6 visits. |
