I don't think I've done anything "special" on New Year's Eve in about 34 years. Last time I went to an official New Year's Eve Party was about 5 weeks after MomHawk and I met, and the party was at her house.

Since then we've mostly stayed in, because neither one of us are big drinkers, and we just haven't seen the need (we are more weekend bbq, day party type people).

No problem staying up until midnight for me though, my internal clock seems to be I want to sleep 2am to 10am.

We haven't been out on new years eve since I can't remember.

When the kids were little, and wanted to stay up, we would watch the ball drop in New York at 9pm on tv and say, "You made it to midnight!" , and all go to bed.

Last year was the first year we didn't go to some event for New Years. Usually just a house party but have done events ranging all the way up to a formal ball. One of the most memorable was a huge event put on by the local rock radio station. We were VIP guests since one of our friends was sating a DJ but the rest of the attendees were people that won their tickets in contests. Not to sound snobbish but it seems that the people that have the time to call into radio station contests don't have time for such things as jobs, showers or changing out of dirty sweat pants for a big party!

During my military time there was also the New Years day levee which was all but mandatory to attend for officers. Since most of the refreshments were traditional recipes and the food was always game of some sort (i.e. beaver stew) these could be very rough after a night of drinking. This was especially concerning since you were in your number ne best mess dress uniform and dry cleaning would cost a fortune if something didn't sit well!

I swear I had a couple drinks at the bar while waiting on food. You are making me question my memory now.
