EDIT: just remembered, axle-back might not be an option for me, since mine's a 2020. If I recall correctly, there's something different with the mid-pipe to axle-back connection (location or flange or something), so only cat-backs work for 2017+ unless the axle-back is specifically designed for the newer ones. E.G. this HKS Legamax Premium axle-back only fits the 2017+...but of course they only offer it in the "burnt titanium" tip, when I would want plain stainless... To get the stainless tips, I'd need to get the cat-back.

My first pick, of course, would be the STI axle-back, but at $1700 CAD + shipping from Japan? I'll live with something else...LOL.
I'm probably between the CSG/MXP Touring86 cat back or the HKS Legamax Premium cat back if I don't stay with the stock cat-back. Not sure I love the super-large tips on either of those options though. I've inquired with CSG if the JDM OEM tips can be used on the Touring86.

I guess it's back on the options list for me, but considering I could get the HKS Legamax Premium or Greddy Supreme SP cat-backs for the same price, not sure that I'd go for it... EDIT: Also funny, if you go through the site navigation on ft86motorsports.com and browse all the exhausts, that one DOESN'T come up - only the 360-23111 model (for the pre-2017+). If you search "2017+ exhaust" in the search bar though, it does come up.

The price is still pretty steep for just an axleback but catbacks are all sound anyways and I'm picky FT86MS does their own midpipes which I'm considering maybe next year. Greddy SP was on my short list too. Certainly better bang for buck purely from getting a stainless midpipe for the same cost. Ultimately decided against it as I am fairly certain it's louder than the authorize S |

Not exactly the same as what I'm planning with the GT Spec (which has the cat in the header, plus the stock front pipe), but maybe gives an idea of the sound? If anything, it will be quieter. For visual aesthetics, nothing comes close to the STI, with the curvature perfectly matching the rear bumper, but $$$$. The other option I am looking at is Supersprint, but they are also VERY expensive. Likely about $2,100-2,300 CAD + shipping from Italy for the cat back (I have the Canadian distributor inquiring about pricing and availability), but they sound really good and fit the stock or JDM OEM tips (they also make some pretty sweet oval tips, but they're $700-800 CAD ***for the tips!!!***)... I'm probably just going to see what the sound is with the stock exhaust and the headers, and as long as I don't pick up any weird buzzing or other noises, I may just throw the JDM tips on it and call it a day.

Sticking with stock catback with the headers is a good baseline. You'll see how much louder the header is with everything else stock. With the rear seats down I find it louder than I expected while heavy into the throttle. I'm not hugely familiar with HKS exhausts, they're niche around my local area. I'm sure that setup would sound good. |

Got pricing back for the Supersprint exhaust pieces. For some reason, Supersprint told the distributor that the exhausts for the 2017+ are "under development"??? Not sure if they were confused and thinking about the 2nd gen.
So, the axle-back only option is off the table, and I asked the distributor to get pricing for the cat-back, either with or without the resonator in the mid-pipe. Resonated is $2,515 shipped (plus taxes), and non-resonated is $2,336 shipped (plus taxes). So, $200-400 more than the STI axle-back, but with 63.5mm diameter throughout (2.5"). Here's a link to a YouTube video from Supersprint highlighting the sound differences with the various configurations. For now, I'm sticking with the plan to try the headers and overpipe with the stock cat-back first, and then look at exhaust options only if the resulting sound is unpleasant or if I feel that there's more power to be gained (knowing that a cat-back is likely to only gain a few hp at best) or I've run out of other things to spend money on...LOL. EDIT: Also got back a quote for ceramic-coating the HKS catted header and overpipe from a local shop, and it was pretty reasonable - $240 + tax. Will definitely do that, as it will be better long-term for sure to manage the heat in the engine bay. I've also discovered that my wife *may* have bought me something for the car for Christmas (I'm not supposed to know, but I see our Visa bills...LOL), so I've tentatively booked to have the installation done between Christmas and New Year's along with getting the Pedders Top Mounts installed.

did you buy your car at Docksteader on Marine dr? Looks like where I got mine.
Did you find that master cylinder brace in Canada or have to pay for shipping from somewhere?

I ordered the Grimmspeed master cylinder brace, hood lift kit and license plate relocation kit through subieland.ca. Their website is a bit of a mess, but their customer service was great!
