If/when the ecu gets cracked it can be tuned to ignore the cat ready check so it won't throw the CEL. Depending on what your state requires for emissions testing then yes you would be able to pass after the ecu is cracked. At least that's what they do for the 1st gen cars.

iirc the header part number is the same as the 1st gen ones. If I'm correct, then swapping the header is a fairly easy job. Only annoying part is getting the original header out since there's studs connecting it to the over pipe rather than removable bolts.

iirc the header part number is the same as the 1st gen ones. If I'm correct, then swapping the header is a fairly easy job. Only annoying part is getting the original header out since there's studs connecting it to the over pipe rather than removable bolts.
Definitely a different part number but looks like install/removal is identical, should be pretty simple.

My bad, I thought I read somewhere that they were the same. It should be similar regardless since the FA24D is just a bored out FA20D. Hopefully they didn't do fixed studs on the header because it was minorly annoying prying the header down when the studs got stuck on the over pipe.

You want to spend money on a catless header that will throw a cel? My point is wait til they can tune it and a header is designed for it. Or remove front cat, which many have done, and tune it
